Open season on Rutgers?

Open season on Rutgers?

Schiano jumps to the NFL to become head coach in Tampa Bay.  Will his 2012 class stay committed?  Several highly sought after recruits might look elsewhere.

Re: Open season on Rutgers?

I'm sure several will... any recruits still considering Rutgers with NSD coming up may shorten their list, as well.

Tough luck for RU losing their coach the week before signing day. Wonder how they hold on to as many players/recruits as possible. Where do they look for a new head coach? Are they going to have to go after a coordinator/assistant with signing day coming up? It will probably be harder to pry a head coach away at this stage of the game, but I suppose if a guy is looking to move up in the coaching world it would still be a good move.

Unfortunately for the fans on this board, it looks like most of Rutgers' current verbals are from NJ and PA. IU doesn't have any pipeline to that part of the country right now so I doubt many/any will consider B-Town if they open up.

Any of those guys ever consider IU before choosing Rutgers? I haven't seen any yet but I haven't checked them all out...

Re: Open season on Rutgers?

Looks like the best players in their class may be WR Leonte Carroo and OL Chris Muller.

Muller is from PA and Rivals shows offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida and others. I've seen in the Twitterverse that the Wolverines are already on Muller today.

Carroo is from Don Bosco Prep in NJ and is apparently visiting Miami (FL) this weekend. Rivals shows offers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and some other solid programs. Also says he was recruited to Indiana but not offered, but I'm not sure what to make of that.

The Greg Schiano the Tampa Bay Bucs seems like a Odd Fit. His whole ''Chopping Wood'' toughness and ''No exuses-do the Work/Get the job DONE'' persona seemed to Fit really well at a Historical Football program like Rutgers. Dont know that he has a lot of previous NFL connections-Best wishes to him though of course..he's certainly a Fine Coach at the College level and hopefully he can make the transition and bring his ''Wood chopping'' mentality to toughen up the Bucs along the Florida Gulf Coast.

You never know on some of the Rutger's Class, but given new OC Seth Litrell's arrival I might guess perhaps a couple of ARIZONA's Class-like QB Nate Sudfeld might be interested in joining him in the Big Ten at IU. Rich Rod's Read Option/spread attack isnt for everyone-esp. say if you're a Fast Talented WR wanting to play in a more pass oriented Multiple set offense? surprised

We'll see soon enough-lot of Recruiting drama out here in Honolulu too with New Hawaii Coach Norm Chow and Staff HARD at work keeping some of the Best instate and California/West Coast talent Out of the Pac 12. Februray 1st coming up Fast. GO IU!
