Indiana - Indiana State Game Thread

Indiana - Indiana State Game Thread

Anybody out there?  Are you ready for some football?  Penn State just survived a scare in Dublin vs. UCF, but the B1G is now 1-0.

Looks like bad weather will delay the start of the game by at least 30 minutes.  Hopefully it won't dampen the enthusiasm for opening day.   We'll give a game thread a try.

Go Hoosiers!

Even with Bortles gone to the NFL, UCF is a quality team so that's a nice win for Penn State.  Rutgers, as a dog, went on the road and beat Washington State the other night, and Minnesota and Michigan State have already won.  Let's hope the conference's success continues with all the games today.

Now looking at a 12:50 kickoff for our game. The game is on ESPNNEWS here in the Region, which is Channel 231 on Comcast.

Purdue marched down the field handily on their opening possession against Western Michigan, but Western Michigan returned the favor and it's 7-7 late in the first quarter.

Some missed tackles by our defense on the first two plays by ISU, first on the edge and then up the middle. Gonna have to tighten that up, right quick.

Can't say the defense was impressive on that opening ISU drive, but we kept them off the board. See what Sudfeld can do now.

Six straight runs to start our offense, then even Sudfeld had to scramble. Down in the red zone now, it's all run, run, run.

Coleman is in for 6! OK, good start for the running game, at least.

Our D looked much better on that series.

D needs to step up here and prevent a score.

Nice three-and-out by the defense, and we give it right back on a special teams fumble. Was that Harris back there?

Looks like it was #5 Padmore with the fumble.

At least we were able to hold them to the field goal.

Let's get it back now, with interest.

Who needs a passing game? Coleman for 6 more, running to daylight.

Nice three-and-out by the defense there. We're not getting much push from our three-man front, but the tackling has tightened up.

Personally, I don't like the rule about controlling the ball through the catch, but we'll take it here.

Sudfeld's first pass comes with just over a minute left in the first quarter. Lucky it wasn't picked.

Not the best quarter of football I've ever seen, but at least we held them to 3.

I think we may have thought we could catch them sleeping after a dozen straight running plays, but those first two passes by Sudfeld were less than impressive and defended well.

Nice defensive series there. Consecutive sacks by Richardson and the blitzing Mangieri, then a sweet open-field tackle by Michael Hunter. Very nice showing by the D, and Richardson's sack was all Richardson.

Don't like seeing Sudfeld scramble.
