Misguided comments from your FB coach

Misguided comments from your FB coach

Being quoted as saying that ND and the Big 12 have an easier road to the BCS playoffs.

I guess based on schedules ND plays 17 at Augusta while IU plays 18 at the municipal course.
My argument would be that Coach Wilson needs to play the 18th at muni before even worrying about having a cocktail at the 19th (a bowl game). Plus, playing BGSU, No Texas and Indiana State is not like loading up on high end opponents.
Lets see, this year IU plays OSU, UM, MSU, MO and PSU. ND will play Michigan, Stanford, North Carolina, Florida State, Arizona State and USC. So, IU plays 2 teams in the top 25 plus No Texas and ISU. ND has 5 teams in the preseason top 25. ND has never played a FBS team in history.

Wilson needs to worry about a winning season and a bowl game before the Big 10 championship or a bowl game. It seems like he needs to get off the range before playing on the tour.

Now beyond that rant. I hope you guys beat Michigan, OSU and PSU. And best of luck to Nile Sykes. Would have loved to see him stay at ND. I hope he has a great career as a Hoosier.

Re: Misguided comments from your FB coach

Not misguided at all.  He wasn't talking about Indiana, he was talking about the Conference.  His comment is simply that school's from the B1G, SEC, and ACC have to play an extra game before the BCS playoffs are picked.

The road is now harder, because that last game is against arguably the 2nd best team in the conference. So let's say you have UW and OSU both undefeated and ranked in the top 4 going into the conference championship.  One is going to lose, most likely with a loss, they will drop out of the top 4.  Now they are out of the playoff.

I will grant you that he probably should not have said anything.  The comments would have made more sense coming from one of the conference teams that has a legitimate chance to make the BCS playoffs.  I also think this is a conference talking point.

First of all, I have no control over what Wilson says, so spare me the lecture.

Second, its his opinion.

Third, North Texas won nine games last year so what the **** do they have to do with Indiana State?

Fourth, have you ever wondered why everyone hates you guys? Its not jealousy (everyone is better than IU). Its the absurd level of arrogance. Notre Dame isn't the emeperor of college sports.

Seems like much ado about nothing.

Preseason polls, and preseason strength of schedule discussions, are of limited value and significance.  ND fans should be well aware of that.  Notre Dame wasn't even ranked in the 2012 AP preseason poll but they ended up playing in the national championship game. That didn't turn out too well for the Irish, though.  And the "Golden Domers vs. Mobile Homers" t-shirts quickly disappeared from the shelves in South Bend.

Did you look at No. Texas's schedule? There are HS teams in Texas that played a better schedule.

I am sure that many college fans don't like ND or their fans. Just like people don't like the Yankees or Cowboys (me in both cases).
I never claimed that ND was the Emperor of College Sports.
The coach should use discretion before calling out 13 teams that are better than IU. If they go better than 6-6 and get to a bowl then there is an argument to be made. As of today, he should worry about getting in the discussion for the Big 10 conference game.

And, I assume that you have heard the term "opinions are like a'holes. Everyone has one and nobody like to hear either". On that note, I will take my opinion and go home.

Re: Misguided comments from your FB coach

if we didn't have total and complete morons controlling the process, the argument would be moot.

every big 5 conference champ should be in the playoffs.

having a 4 team playoff, (as opposed to at least 8), is beyond idiotic, and will be even more controversial most yrs, (though only slightly less idiotic), than the 2 team playoff.

ND would love that,  Because they would probably get invited every year, then..

I agree with you take the champions from the 5 conferences, and then take the next three teams..

OK then, you can never criticize the president until you successfully run for office. That's the logic you are using. He didn't hold a PC and call out ND. They asked him a question. He's certainly qualified to express his opinion.

You really don't want my opinion on criticizing the President.
I will lead with 2 questions.
Did you serve your country in the military? Particularly in wartime.
Do you vote? And by that I mean in every election. Federal, state and local? Absentee or in person?

This is the United States of America. I don't have to like or dislike the President or our United States of America. I will support him/her.

Your coach can't hit .500 in an average conference, with several cream puffs added in. He should worry about his job stability, not defending his conference. Especially when 2 of the better teams (excluding MSU and UW) are either on probation or just off restrictions.

irish4life, sounds like you need to go back to ND and write some papers
for your football team.

Let it all shake out and then I will comment.
ND self reported to the NCAA. It may not be a violation, rather an ND honor code thing.
And, as reports/rumors come down, this may not be a case of someone writing a paper, rather helping proofread and suggesting corrections. Also, it was not a staff member/tutor. It appears to be a friend.

Remember ND reported this and had a press conference. It is not like this was swept under a rug. They are currently holding 3 starters and a 2nd teamer out of football activities until there is a resolution.

Funny, but it is only news because it is ND. If this happened at an SEC school the world wouldn't even notice.

Poetry at it's best. Do you tutor the IU football team?

When your mom lets you out of the basement, she should probably put out a warning about not mixing well with others.  ;)

I call BS  No school would claim that having someone proofread and suggest corrections on a paper is academic dishonesty.

No way, no how....

I don't like ND, and have not since Holtz, but I applaud them for upholding academic integrity.

I get along quite well with most people. My response was simply made to someone who appears to have a case of "something" envy.
Other than a very good men's soccer team what does any fan of IU sports have to crow about? Heck, IU's proud basketball team has had a longer drought than ND football.

The world will know based on the outcome of the investigation, and punishment.
The players are being held out until the student population gets back on campus. There will be a ruling by the members of the Honor Code committee which consists of faculty and general population students.

I could be wrong, but my original comment is what I have heard.

Thank you for proof reading. Watch out, you could get called in front of the Honor Code review board.

Oh, so you just come to the IU board when you want to pick fights?

Wilson is entitled to his opinions.  When he was OC at Oklahoma, was his opinion more valid there because he was with a top program at that point?    Didn't realize the value of a coach's opinion was based on the program prestige and how well they have done on the field.  Can't really blame Wilson for the decades of futility at IU.

What sport does ND have to be proud of exactly?   Outside of the cheaters in football, you don't exactly have anything to hang your hat on.
