RE: Mark Hagen

That would sting. Coach Wilson didn't mention that in his interview.

LOI signing day can't come soon enough.

Did we ever see any official about David Kenney, Sr., and his alleged hiring by Indiana State?  There's an article on ISU's website about new coaches, but no mention of Kenney.

Hey guys, what's you guys opinion of Coach Hagen?  It looks like he can recruit, any opinions on his coaching abilities?  Thanks

He is still firm with IU.

In a perfect world, he would be a recruiting coordinator and that's it, but he wants to be a head coach someday, but I think he may be limited from a coaching prespective, or just never gotten the chance.  I know he was bitter when he didn't get a shot at DC at Purdue and someone told me that he felt he was "maxed out" at PU mostly because he was IU grad....true or not, I don't know.

RE: Mark Hagen

Hagen is an enigma to me.

Says terrible things about IU while he's at Purdue (reportedly), yet comes to IU and seems excited to be back.  Said that his bitternes towards IU was related to how Bill Mallory was treated during his last season and ultimate firing.

Talked up while at Purdue as the next great Big Ten Assistant coach, yet never gets more than a Special Teams Coordinator title.

Reportedly was involved in some very negative recruiting of Greg Middleton while he was wavering between PU and IU.  However, he's viewed as this great recruiting genius.

Regarded as this great DL coach who put a number of DL into the NFL while at PU, yet gets picked up by Texas A&M as their LB coach. (probably because he played LB in college)...

I knew Mark while he was a GA at IU.  I never got a good vibe from him.  Maybe it's him being cerebral.  Maybe it's him being aloof.  Maybe, it's him being a meat head.  I can't tell.  But at the end of the day, Coach Mark Hagen to Texas A&M is a very curious hire in my opinion.

Good for A&M?
Good for IU??
Good for Hagen???

You bring up a lot of interesting points. I like what Hagan did for us but a lot of people were glad to see him go because his time had run its course.

Re: Mark Hagen

Hagen was someone that players in the Indy area genuinely liked and he was good at keeping players that IU needed interested.  He had support while at IU in the recruiting cycle from other staff and I know he will be successful at A&M too.  A loss? yes.  A loss that Wilson can't replace? NO!
