Holding Iowa to a total of 371 total yards is major improvement

I've said for many years now that if IU's defense could hold it's opponents to around 350yards per game, we would win LOTS of football games. My hat's off to Coach Mallory and Eck for putting some teeth into this defense. I'll admit that after the Northwestern debacle, I thought Mallory was in to deep and needed to be canned at seasons end. You guys have proven me wrong, congrats and keep coaching hard.

Our dline's playing very well, we're going to miss Black and Replogle. Our DE's are playing their best football of the season and they're relatively young. We're finally doing what all good football programs do though, we're recruiting well enough on the defensive side to keep this progress going. I'm excited to be an IU football fan and Lord willing, I'll be in the stands next Saturday for the IU/Wisconsin showdown.

Holding them to 14 points was impressive too.  We aren't a lockdown defense, we will give up some yards.  But limiting points and getting some stops is key.  The defense did both of those things the last 2 weeks.

I think part of it had to do with the fact that they were physical. That's the hardest hitting I've seen an IU defense hit in a long long time.
The toothbrush was invented in Kentucky. If it were invented anywhere else, it would be a teethbrush.

Tough game to measure as iowa has a pos offense.

Still, we have seen many "possession" offenses put up 450+ yards and 35+ points on us in recent years.  Its improvement, albeit small.  And right now, if there's noticeable improvement, I'll continue to be happy.

With our offense as explosive as it is, we can live with a defense that is still growing and learning. You plug in 4 or 5 four star players on the defensive side of the ball and things will get interesting.
