What a victory folks!! Very hard hitting/physical game!

That's one of the hardest hitting college games I've seen all year and I watch a LOT of football. It seemed like Iowa was bringing the lumber from the outset and then IU started throwing some serious shots of our own. Great to get a critical victory in November to keep our chances alive for the BIG title game!

Our program has finally turned a corner, down 14-0 and didn't flinch. Our men simply fought back and got down right physical, on Iowa's level, and that's what our program's been missing for years. Can't wait till next Saturday, I'll be there. Congrats Coach, Staff and Team!!!

RE: What a victory folks!! Very hard hitting/physical game!

The great news is that we got the W, and we didn't fold down the stretch, so this game is a huge testosterone booster for the team and for the fans. Have to give major kudos to the defense for playing hard for 60 minutes and surrendering only 14 points. The front four were especially impressive today, since we blitzed very little but kept decent pressure on the pocket all day.

We shot ourselves in the foot several times on offense, however. Fortunately, Iowa neutralized their potential advantage with their own blunders, but the difference in this game was our defense. That's been the biggest surprise this season, and the biggest area of improvement overall.

Coffman got it done when it counted, although he did not look particularly sharp for most of the game. Sudfeld still has the stronger arm, quicker feet, and better size, so I don't think the QB discussion is over. Both guys have shown they are capable of getting it done, if they get time and a little help. Great job by Latimer, Hughes, and Bolser today.

It's a big win for Hoosier football. Hope the recruits enjoyed the show.

I won't lie.  When we got down 14-0, I thought here we go again.  But this team fought back and proved that gut instinct wrong!  Great way to fight back and win a physical football game.  This is a team that growing before our eyes!

I thought it looked bleak at that point as well but then I remembered who you were playing - a middle of the road MAC team.biggrin

Coming from a Wisky fan (not an alum to boot)...heh heh classic!  Pot, meet kettle.

I say this because Iowa is bad...really bad.  I thought Indiana would beat us by more and you should have.

You guys are obviously the better team but if Iowa had any coaching competence it would have been a win for our side with the start we had.  Should have, could have, but didn't.  Oh well.

What you guys saw as a hard hitting game was not viewed equally by our side.  We see a weak team attempting to play the game and striving for a chance to right every wrong they have put us through this season.  Of course they couldn't accomplish this task and gave you guys your first B10 win at home in a long while.

Indiana = improving
Iowa = declining

Beating Iowa is not an accomplishment anymore.  Just like Wisconsin in that regard.  It says more in the fact that the state of the conference is horrible.  You guys are still in the hunt and that scares me a lot.  It doesn't bode well for the B10 as a whole in the future.

Take a look at our board and see what losing to Indiana does to a teams fanbase.

Saying all this, you guys did win and you are moving rapidly in the right direction so grats and things are looking good for the future at IU in the B10.  Take that for what it's worth.

@AEGHawkeye,
Don't patronize us, what a bunch of crap. IU has traditionally played Iowa very well in football and that occured with IU's weakest teams. IU's record against Ferentz is either 6-6 or 7-6, not sure which...IU also has a legitimate chance to leap frog programs such as Iowa, Purdue, Illinois etc, because of Coach Wilson.

As for your assertion that IU's presence in the Big Ten Championship game displays a weak conference, the same thing's always been said about Iowa when representing the BigTen in the Rose Bowl.

IU's always given Iowa trouble because of IU's skill players, it's played out that way for years now. The big difference now is that IU is starting to actually develop a proper Big Ten program that has tough line play and hard nosed defense, not just depending on scoring a bunch of points.

+1 - except for iowa in Rosebowl - it's been so long, I don't think anyone remembers. iowa's program is on a downward spiral - on and off the field and I'm loving every minute of it.
