Give Me Bobby's Opening Play Call Post Rating (3 votes)

What will be our opening play call on our first offensive play from scrimmage on Monday?

I predict he calls Gerald Christian's number on that TE block and delayed release across the middle of the field thing that CBP loves.

A jet sweep for James Quick for 75 yards and a TD?

Dom gets the call.  BP will establish the running game.

A run up the gut with Brown (he gains  20 yards) to gauge how stout that middle D of Miami is.     We find it isn't ready for Game 1.

FlossY Out...

Triple reverse with Jake Smith throwing an 80 yard bomb for a TD.

Play action pass to Gerald Christian down the hash, 28 yard gain.

AND THAT'S GOOD FOR ANOTHER.....CARDS FIRST DOWN!!

I'm going with Dom Brown on a 50 yard rumble to the endzone.  That's right, we started at the 50, because special teams will be improved by that much.

CatFansince73: Louisville could sign three quarterbacks like Teddy Bridgewater and still lose to UK by two or three touchdowns next year.

Run play.  Maybe something creating like a reverse...

He won't have Gardner throwing a pass on his very first play as a starter.

Will Gardner with a 73-yard QB sneak that catches the entire Miami team off guard and flat-footed. John Wallace adds the PAT to make it 7-0.

I am of the opposite opinion - an easy short pass completion to get Will's first start going on a positive note.

I like that the first 4 responses where all valid options, and all included different players.

I expect a quick pass to get Will relaxed. Over the middle to 'sure handed' Rogers or possibly a bubble screen to get Quick established as well.
Later and Go Cards!!

Play action over the middle.  Short pass, but hoping to catch their overeager LBs cheating up  for a bigger gain after the catch.

There will be a shift and a motion involved to help Gardener get a pre-snap read of coverage (which Bobby P stashes that info away for a run play later from same formation that gashes them!!!) and then a quick pass complete to Rogers for a gain of 12 yards.

Re: Give Me Bobby's Opening Play Call

play action fake the handoff to Dom  the slot receiver will do a flat to the sideline and  then up the sideline and try to hit in stride. That was his first play against UK his first season and ran it in the spring game for a TD to Quick

Funny!

That play was run successfully against Miami TWICE (1984 Orange Bowl vs Nebraska, 1988 Orange Bowl vs Oklahoma).

Takes a knee. Then Dom & Michael (I expect him to play) get real mean. Also expect Eli to have a big night.
