DeVante Parker suffers foot injury

U of L Release...

University of Louisville senior wide receiver Devante Parker suffered a left foot injury at practice Friday night at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Parker has been evaluated by UofL team physicians and will visit Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, N.C., in the next couple days for further evaluation and management.

The 6-foot-3 wide out from Louisville, Ky., totaled 55 receptions for a team-high 885 yards and tied a school record with 12 touchdowns last season.

The Cardinals are scheduled to face Miami on Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Well if he's already scheduled to go to see what I'm assuming is a specialist in N.C. I'm a bit concerned. :(

The fact that a statement was released is worrisome. I would expect him to miss at least a few games. Releasing a statement late on a friday night is not great news IMO.

Very unfortunate. Really feel for him.

No official word on how long he'll be sidelined.

Unfortunate, but there's plenty of depth.

Depth? Yes. But, you don't replace Parker and what he brings to the offense. I don't care how much quality depth you have. He's a bonafide game changer. Demands double teams most every play.

Re: DeVante Parker suffers foot injury

The above poster is correct, you don't replace someone like Parker, regardless of your depth. It certainly sounds like very bad news if he's going to see a specialist surgeon in NC. Depending on how long he would be out, I would say its a minimum of a full one game swing in the over-under. Feel horrible for the kid.

This sounds like an injury that may cost him half the season at least. Feel terrible for the guy since he decided to comeback, and was really looking forward to playing in BP's offense. Definitely changes the focus some on offense and how the defense would have to play us. Makes things that much harder for the other receivers too since Parker certainly would have commanded double teams. Good thing we have a solid core of receivers and a genius calling plays.

Wow, losing parker is going to hurt big time.. You can't replace a receiver with his ability.

Lots is good wr's but only 1 Parker. If they are sending him to Charlotte it is serious.

Re: DeVante Parker suffers foot injury

Given that the Dr. They are send him to specializes in fractured ankles I would suspect that's the case. We have world-class medical facilities here in Louisville. If they're sending him to a specialist I would fear the worst. I certainly hope that's not the case but it's not looking good. This is the same doctor that operated on Derek Jeter.
