I came to FIND OUT, not say it was true. I thought that this was a place to get information.

The information you provided was that you "heard" he was off the team. Maybe you could enlighten us.

Huge fan, Trinity Alum,  BUT anything short of a years suspension is too easy!!  Grow up James!!! BTW I am not surprised that Hatcher was involved, he needs a lesson too but he won't get it at UK.

A friend of mine told me last night that he was off the Team. I said that I had not heard anything of the sort. He didn't say where he got the info, so I came on here to see if it was true.

Last I heard from the media was he had a lot of work to do.

I hope he can work it out and is on the Team, he has a lot of talent that I hope to see on the field for us.

From WDRB:

4. U of L released an updated football roster on Monday, with the key change being numerical in nature. Running back Michael Dyer will try to fill Teddy Bridgewater's number, if not his shoes. Dyer will wear No. 5 for the Cardinals. Tyler Ferguson, a transfer quarterback from Penn State, also is listed with the number, which he figures to move into when he becomes eligible to play next season.

Smoking pot does not deserve a year's suspension. These are college kids. They're going to make mistakes. In the grand scheme of things this is not a big one.

Wow, the douchnozzles are out in full force on this thread! Off the team or a one year minimum suspension for a first time offense? You're kidding right? Like another poster said, they're college kids and mistakes happen. It's when you keeping making the same mistakes that it becomes a problem. Why don't you UK fanboys enlighten us on Hatcher's situation since this is his second documented offense. I would say that's more of an issue than Quick's first problem. Is Hatch off the team? By your logic he should be starting for Murray State this fall.

I agree the penalty shouldn't be much of anything at all. However, what happens to him or what we do or thing has NOTHING to do with uofk

No way he deserves a year long suspension for this minimal of an offense. I am not condoning drug use but if you were to punish a player that long for this then there would be ALOT of players all across the country with year long suspensions.

Although I am surprised that Quick only received a citation for having around 30g (if I remember correctly) of marijuana in his possession. I thought that was a felony but I could be wrong.

30 grams would be a lot if you're talking about cocaine or heroin. That's not much marijuana. That's enough to get your average slacker through the weekend.

Maybe I am a little out of touch, but I would think an "average" slacker could make an ounce last more than a weekend. Then again I was never a big smoker. And ounce would have lasted me several months.

Re: Any update on James Quick?

30 grams is not a felony offense.  For a first offense of this magnitude individuals are usually sent to a "class" of sorts that deals with chemical dependency issues, etc.  He could have been arrested if the officers chose to do so but a citation is usually the route they take.  Most officers (and this is not an official statement or based on any research) are not going to take the time to arrest and book/process and individual for an offense that will be pleaded down to attending a "first offense" class environment.  The same thing happened to me 20 some odd years ago when I still messed with such things.

Yeah, if you are smoking an ounce of corn in one weekend then you are either smoking crap or getting your buzz on in a serious manner.
