Let's please put this to rest...Bridgewater or Brohm? (8 votes)
Over the last couple of months I've had to bad my tongue a couple times and others I didn't about the rabid local fan base and their expectations of local players in the program.
Bridgewater is now better than Brohm ever thought about being a QB at the UofL. Period!
I'm on the record...I think Quick is good and will have a good career, but the pressure of "Heisman Candidate" from day one.....the locals, well at least some of them, are unreasonable!

I would not go that far. Brohm also put up better numbers against better competition, and had more success. Brohm's teams went to two January bowl games, often blowing teams out with stellar offensive performances. Then you compare each in their down year (2007 vs. 2011), and Brohm's numbers were better. So it is unfair to make such a statement. If you want to say Bridgewater is better, that's fine. But the level in which you are putting their achievements and perfomrances in comparison, is a bit out of whack.

Of course you know, this means war.

This is the attitude of Louisville fans. We cheer for our own and want them to succeed more than anything. The local kids that come here find that out. I do agree that Teddy is better than Brohm. But what you get a lot of times (not all the time) is local kids playing their heart out for "their" team. I think the following article does a really good job at summing up Cardinal fans. www.cardchronicle.com/2012/12/...holiday-editionI have not seen anyone that doesn't love Teddy as their own. And he will always be the guy that got Louisville on to the National playground and got us a step closer to our National championship. But Brohm is a little bit of an oddity, because you have a local kid that went to a local Catholic school with a lot of support and following. So, there a lot of people who followed him for 8 years. Not to mention his whole family played for us.

I wouldn't say its "unfair". Your comparing Brohm's whole career with a sample size of Bridgewater's. They are also playing in 2 completely different schemes. There's no doubt that Bobby Petrino is one of if not the best offensive mind in college football. I wouldn't necessarily put Shawn Watson on that level.

Wow...Brohm has a win against WF, lose to VT and never beat WV in Morgantown. By the end of Bridgewater's sophomore year, he has beaten UF in the Sugar Bowl, Beat UNC and WV in Morgantown...throw in two BE Championships to boot. Not to mention his NFL stock is soaring as a possible top 5 player taken overall.....I don't care if the Petrino lover's think he's the best offensive mind to ever live.....this is about Bridgewater and Brohm. cardsron wrote: I wouldn't say its "unfair". Apples and Oranges Cowtown. You cannot compare them directly until Bridgewater is gone. Due to Brohm having a much better overall record + better numbers. And what are you crapping on our Orange Bowl win.?? WF was a great team that year. FlossY out... CowtownCard wrote: Wow...Brohm has a win against WF, lose to VT and never beat WV in Morgantown. You do realize I was agreeing with you right. I was refuting the fact that Brohm put up huge numbers and Teddy's "numbers" dont put him ahead of Brohm. Looking at them as quarterbacks, there's no doubt that Teddy is the best quarterback to ever play here.

TB is way better than BB. I will say Redman and Lefores were better than BB. Im not knocking Brian, we've had several solid QBs and he is on that list of several. I think TB will do very well in the NFL.

What is your point?
Teddy & Brian played on different teams, against different teams, and most important played for different coaches running a different offense. Each guy was great at UL.
If Teddy stays at UL he will break all of Brians numbers but he will not top Redman in numbers yardage etc. On the other hand Teddy has the chance to take UL to another BCS game and if that happens he will probably become UL's most beloved QB.
For the record Brohm did not lose the Gator Bowl to VT. He was injuried and did not even play. Has he played UL wins that game easy. Brohm also did not lose the big game at WV. The defense lost that game and Brohm had a great game.
Lets just say they are all great and be happy!

Re: Let's please put this to rest...Bridgewater or Brohm?
Brohm was an awesome quarterback. He won many big games for UofL. Teddy Bridgewater has won a few big games so far. He is arguably, however, one the the greatest quarterbacks I have seen. And he was only a sophmore.

Teddy's probably our best QB since Unitas. I say that because he makes the players around him better. As good as Redman, Ragone, Lefors, and Brohm were they didn't elevate the team the way Teddy does.

you know what.... they can both be really good. Bridgewater being great doesn't have to take anything away from Brohm.

And Bridgewater lost to UConn and Syracuse, so what's the point? Anyway, Brohm did lose a triple overtime game a much better WVU team with some questionable calls that may have resulted the loss (see the fair catch on the onside kick that was missed), so that is nothing to sneeze at. And he did beat WVU, a much better WVU team BTW, at home. You are comparing Bridgewater's play, which has been very good mind you, but playing against some different calibur teams. Brohm's teams included beating UK twice (bowl team UK), beating Oregon St, putting up 69 points vs. North Carolina, beating a team 62-0, beating Miami at home, and putting up the would be game winnign drive on the road at Miami, to putting up 4,000 yards the year the defense fell apart. Again, I am not even saying that Bridgewater was not or is not better, but you are diminishing what Brohm did for no apparent reason.

Of course you know, this means war.

The attacks on Brian Brohm, one of the all time great University of Louisville football players was started by the Kragthorpe defenders Brian's senior year and seem to be continuing. They even threw his brother Jeff, another all time great Louisville player, under the bus to protect Kragsy. Looking at his record here which included the program's one and only run at a national title, he had an amazing career. Bridgewater is in the middle of a great career here too but bashing either trying to compare them is the work of a troll in my opinion.

RE: Let's please put this to rest...Bridgewater or Brohm?
Both have made a significant impact on the future of Louisville football and should be equally celebrated. Somehow it seems that Chris Redman is often left out of these types of discussions. He rewrote the UofL record book and his "debut" game, where he led the Cards to a come-from-behind win at Michigan State remains one of my favorite games from the past few decades.
The list can go on... LeFors was one of the most accurate passers to wear a Cardinal uniform and did so w/o the prototypical QB frame.
They shouldn't be compared to each for what the program is accomplishing. They each have played a vital role in getting the football program to where it is today.
In regards to pro potential, I do believe Bridgewater is likely to become the best pro QB the school has produced since, well, Unitas. Redman has had the most NFL success in recent history and while he has had a number of starts, much of his career was being the #2 guy.
