Antonio Blakeney

Posted: 8/9/2014 11:42 AM

Antonio Blakeney

looks like LSU is now the front runner for the services of Antonio Blakeney.  Kind of surprising, but it seems like LSU is going to be this years "hot" team as far as recruiting goes. They already have Ben Simmons, and most likely will add Alex Owens, Noah Dickerson, and possible Blakeney.

Still think it comes down to UofL, UK, or LSU for Antonio, and it has to help that he called Mitchell the night he committed here.  Hope we can finish off with one of the following guards in this class

Blakeney
Dozier
Ali
Bacon

Re: Antonio Blakeney

This one feels like a complete toss up between us and LSU. I think he'll end up at LSU where he won't have to fight over minutes and we end up getting Dozier, who I prefer.

How did LSU all the sudden start pulling this class of talent? I'm not suggesting anything fishy is going on but LSU isn't exactly a national power.

Simmons has an uncle or godfather that is on the coaching staff at LSU, so I can see why he picked them.  As for the rest, still up in the air, but in todays world of one and done, some talented players want to go play with other talented one and done guys.  Simmons is the #1 player in the class by most services, he is the reason LSU is in on all these guys.  If Simmons had gone elsewhere, I highly doubt you would see all this interest in LSU basketball by the top players in the class.

And I really really want Blakeney in a UofL uniform, however, not holding my breath on it.  I think he ends up at LSU or UofL, but more than likely it will be LSU.

I am also hopeful that UofL can get Dozier away from UNC but I dont know if that will happen.

Ali is a toss up really, he decommited from Uconn and it seems he is high on UofL and UCLA as of right now.

and Bacon seems to be Fl St's all the way.

They finally hired a good coach and they have a commitment from one of Blakeney's friends.

Blakney will end up at LSU. Couple of reasons....one, I think either Dozier or Ali will commit during their visit and he won't. Two, look at his list. It''s filled with cheaters. CRP has NOT faired well against those types. We will make a big push for Dozier, not many 6'6" point guards. Either way, AWESOME class!

LSU is a great place for someone who wants to be a big frog in a small pond.

Re: Antonio Blakeney

LSU got Elbert Robinson last year, a big 7'0" center we were in on for a while. The year prior they got Jarrell Martin and Jordan Mickey, bot elite big forwards. If they can keep those two on campus and add Simmons, Owens and Blakeney, they are going to be very good.

Re: Antonio Blakeney

my high school buddy, who now lives in LA, works for one of TOS's as a lead writer and basketball scout.  He had been saying all along that Blakeney was going to UofL, but now, he is saying LSU has is his new favorite.  He says that the idea of playing with his friend (Simmons) as well as teaming up with 2 or 4 other quality players, and starting from day 1 there is what is making them his favorite.

Said Rick has told Blakeney that if he comes here he will have to earn a starting spot (which we already knew)

Re: Antonio Blakeney

Exactly my thoughts Cardaddict. I'm to the point now where enough is enough. Either commit soon or we're moving on. If Blakeney is still having doubts then let him go to LSU. NEXT!!!!

Remember, this guy said that he was waiting on Bigger offers...
Now he says he wants to play with his best friend...
Like another poster said it best, if he plays the "press conference hat game" we need to back out... and leave him alone... those kinds of guys... are  hard to deal with...

Adel didn't call a press conference
Spalding didn't call a press conference..
Mitchell didn't call a press conference...

Those are the kind of guys who we covet...

I am sick of the head games and the press conferences...
