I like Lance Stephenson's mind games

I don't buy this "barking up the wrong tree" stuff. Lebron is the best player in the world anyway. Going for 30+ and 10 and hitting a lot of big shots is just the status quo. He doesn't need extra motivation to do that. When you can't match personnel then you need to do whatever it takes to knock them off their game. These comments about "getting in his head", blowing in his ear, getting in the Heat huddle, etc. That stuff is irritating and distracting if you're on the receiving end of it. Stephenson was also the one that drew Lebron's 5th foul, which knocked him off his game the whole night. That stuff compounds.

The rest of the Pacers seemed content to just watch Lebron walk all over them. Credit to Lance for stepping up. Shades of the bad boy Pistons from the 80s.

I'm not a huge fan of stuff like that, but it is funny watching it happen to the heat.

That being said looks like Stephenson finally figured out its best to try and psyche out the opposing team and not his own. Anything is possible but I still see the Heat closing it out in game 6, hope I'm wrong.

Minus the mind games (which, whatever, I guess if you are the inferior team you need to try that garbage - and I doubt it will work) Stephenson is like a 6-6 version of Russ Smith. Crazy angles, crazy shots, pesky defense, streaky shooter that can hit 5 in a row, completely maddening at times, but does entirely too many good things on the court to keep on the bench.

It's fun to watch, actually.

Stephenson is a punk. His own teammates were forced to shut him up. The Pacers were damn fortunate to win a game on their home court where the other team's best player hardly played and scored. I will be stunned if the Heat don't win the series in the next game, probably by a comfortable margin.

Bingo. Somebody is going to pay WAY too much money on this guy and they will be disappointed. Talented player but has always been a poorly behaved child and I see little to suggest he will change. Made himself a center of attention in this series but look for a major crushing in Miami.

It was cute.. while it lasted. I look for Lebron to drop 40+ in game 6 and the Heat win easily. LS does more to annoy his own team than he does to annoy the opposition most of the time.

I realize LeBron didn't play much or very well, but Rashard Lewis did go off in his place. Miami is certainly the better team, but I think when Indy plays well they're closer to them than people are acknowledging. Game 4, for example was a blowout for much of the third and fourth quarter, but it was at home, the Heat shot twice as many FTs (34), Bosh had his best game in weeks (one of his best of the year), and Stephenson played awfully. Despite all that, they still made a run late, and if not for a horrible offensive foul call followed by a pretty questionable block at the other end, that could have been a much more competitive final three minutes.

I don't expect Indy to win, but if Hibbert plays well (obviously a huge if these days) and the Pacers get an even whistle (also a huge if), I think they've got a good shot to take it back to Indy.

This is so true.   The pacers have only played 1 really good game.  If they can play that way again Friday it may come back to Indy.   Lance is being Lance.   Lebron isnt going to play any harder to win if Lance does weird **** than if he doesnt.   He willed them to win during the 2nd half along with George going off in the 4th quarter.   It was fun seeing Lebron actually play with foul trouble.

I'm a huge Pacers fan, but they stand a 0% chance of winning game 6. As far as Stephenson goes, the dude is very entertaining.

Any "mind game" with Lance Stephenson will be over quickly.

I'd take a guy like that on my team in a heartbeat.

They'd have about a 40% chance of winning a Game 7 back at home, but they will need a miracle to win Game 6 in Miami.

If George is on like he was last night I give the Pacers the edge in both games

Re: I like Lance Stephenson's mind games

Look for a new word in the dictionary after tomorrow night...LEBRONMINATION.  That wasn't gamemanship last night.  That was silly behavior and the refs were too caught up in being Homers and PROBABLY caught up in extending the series.  I don't think Stephenson was a major factor in Lebron sucking last night.  Ticky Tack fouls, mostly earned, and just an off night.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you don't think this is going 7. Lebron vs George in game 7 would be a ratings gold mine for the NBA. George's home cooking comments and fine set the table for game 6. The Heat won't have the officiating advantage that home teams have had in the other games. I look for an evenly called game, with the Pacers rallying in the 4th quarter.

The Pacers just aren't good enough to beat them in Miami in game 6. I would love for it to happen, but they blew it when they lost game 2 at home. The Pacers only goal for tomorrow is to be able to keep it close and not get run off the court, but they aren't taking game 6. Book it.

Re: I like Lance Stephenson's mind games

So many factors had to go the Pacers' way for them to win a game by 3 at home, in which the Heat had a chance to win in the he last possesion. IMO, no way they take the series, and I have serious doubts of this going to seven.
