Illinois, Kane County's Big Ten Team?
Seriously, is this true? What is wrong with you people down in U-C? I actually would prefer that you guys were a lot better and we could have a real in-state rivalry that meant something. I know you may have felt the same way say 20 years ago, but please, can you can Beckman and bring in Jim Tressell or even Gary Barnett so that we don't have to be embarrassed to have a rival like you.

northwestern.rivals.com...901&style=2--------------------------------------------- Have not seen anything with the KCC but have seen a few White Sox ads at the basketball games this season. www.fightingillini.com/genrel/022912aaa.htmlSounds like MT is trying to establish as many relationships as possible in the Chicago area. Here is another with the Fire www.fightingillini.com/genrel/030112aac.html

Why don't you go back to your little dump of a stadium where your lucky to get 30k during a good year. At least people are upset when we are bad and happy when we are good. With NW, the Wildcats are always an afterthought

http://northwestern.rivals.com...901&style=2 ?? You've got like the 9th biggest alumni base out of Big Ten schools in Chicago and can't even out draw us for having won more games the past few years. Get lost bozo. And as far as the real in-state rivalry goes, I seem to remember putting thumpings on you guys plenty of times the past few years.

I'd rather play at Elfstrom Stadium than Dyche.

Re: Illinois, Kane County's Big Ten Team?
Why not Kane County? This is our state. NU can use ads that say they are Chicago's Big ten team but that doesn't make it so. I look at NU playing at Wrigley as a concession that they know no one pays attention to them, unless they do something odd, like give up a home game to play in a baseball park. Until the novelty of playing in a baseball park wears off, this may garner some extra attention, but what kind of attention? If you get stomped like we when we put the hurt on you in the Wrigley debut, with a sea of Illini fans watching, the reality will set in that Wrigley not only isn't a great place to watch a game but the optics are all wrong when the visitors outnumber the home team. To outsiders, this isn't viewed as a NU home game but an Iowa, Wisky, Nebraska, etc. home game. The reality is the Cubs are the winners with this deal not NU. The Cubs get a new source of revenue. NU gets a smaller paycheck than if they could draw the same folks to Evanston. NU football isn't Chicago's Big Ten team. Playing at Wrigley isn't going to change that, in fact, your team isn't the feature at the game, the visiting team is. NU will be the Washington General's of Wrigley. You know, the team the Harlem Globetrotters embarrass and that no one comes to see.

Almost as embarrassing as getting your butt kicked at NUs game of the century at Wrigley Field.

An actual NW fan sighting! I didn't see any in Chicago last weekend. That is so cute to see so much team spirit, too!

I did see the ads for White Sox season tickets. Might be some cross promotion with the Sox in July and August for football at US Cellular.

Re: Illinois, Kane County's Big Ten Team?
I am at a loss of words that we have a NU fan talking total smack over here. Never in a million years would I thought it even possible. We hold the alltime series in football 54-47-5. We hold the alltime basketball series 130-38. NU has a total of 69 Big 10 Championships since inception of the Big 10. That's good for 9th......tied with Purdue and ahead of PSU and Nebraska (should we even count those two?). Hell, The University of Chicago, who left the Big 10 in 1946, has more Big 10 Championships than NU. Illinois has 230 Big 10 Championships all-time. That's second most in the Big 10 behind Michigan.
Memorial Stadium Concessions : Proudly serving the finest food since 1923!

RE: Illinois, Kane County's Big Ten Team?
It is pretty cute that NU thinks they have a real football program. My friends that went to ETHS said that the Illini were more popular than NU. NU isn't even Evanston's Big Ten team.

*-season includes games later vacated due to NCAA sanctions; actual records were 35-2 in 1995-96 and 38-2 in 2007-08. NCAA Tournament appearances were also vacated in 1996 and 2008.

Re: Illinois, Kane County's Big Ten Team?
Had a class with a wide reciever that was on the eastern illinois football team the last 4 years and he said when they played at Northwestern, it was a joke of facilities for a big ten team, said it was hardly any diferent than EIU, SIU, ISU, in his opinion of the facilties, he said the biggest highlight of hte year for playing at a place like EIU is the trips to a Div 1 pay check game, and well he said he would of rather played a game against Millikin or Weslyan and get the win instead of getting beat on at a crappy place to get "the experience of big ten football"
