Re: Billy Gonzales
Is it starting to fall apart in the open now instead of behind the curtain? Utah..really? I guess they do have a better football team.

Re: Billy Gonzales
Are we really lamenting the departure of anyone on this staff except for our D-line coach?

I never thought I would see a worse OC than Petrino. I was wrong about that. ILLiniwek4ever wrote: I have heard Billy Gonzales is leaving Illinois.

Re: Billy Gonzales
One of TB's disastrous decisions was to hire young, unproven co-OCs in conjunction with an inexperienced OL coach.

Thank god. The man is even dumber than Beckman. He couldn't speak for 30 seconds without saying "obviously"

Re: Billy Gonzales
Luke will probably be a fine OL coach down the road with more seasoning, but there's a reason most top schools have guys with at least a few gray hairs oversee the OL. It's critical for the team, and difficult to master. Guys like Harry Hiestand are worth their weight in gold. Luke likely would have been able to learn on the job working under a skilled veteran OC. Would Derek Leonard take a job as a WR coach?

Re: Billy Gonzales
Based on the performance of the d-line last year, I did not lament his departure. Sometimes the parts do not equal the whole. IlliniMac68 wrote: Are we really lamenting the departure of anyone on this staff except for our D-line coach?

Re: Billy Gonzales
This is great news. The structure of the staff last year was a disaster - 2 unproven co-coordinators and an unproven OL coach. We have a chance for a serious upgrade in all 3 spots, which can only help.

I never have liked co-coordinators. Good luck to Billy...and I think we'll be better finding someone Cubit is comfortable working with. sonvolt wrote: This is great news. Re: Billy Gonzales
last time we did that I figured the problem was that one of them was a Mallory. felix7 wrote: I never have like co-coordinators. Good luck to Billy...and I think we'll be better finding someone Cubit is comfortable working with.

Re: Billy Gonzales
I forgot about that. And, that weasel ruined Juice, too. But Petrino's 6 game losing streak, inability to adjust and complaints about the refs were all remarkably bad. EddiesSweetJ wrote:
