Re: Aaron Bailey

I'm just grateful that a kid of his caliber stuck with his commitment and wants to help this team get better. Whether he turns out to be the best QB in the conference or ends up at WR in my book he will always be appreciated because I have a feeling that he was (and is) one of the bigger selling points for offensive recruits in this class and next.

Re: Aaron Bailey

Depends on "when".. I think he learns this coming year. After that, yes is the answer..

Re: Aaron Bailey

Can he throw the ball ACCURATELY more than 15 yards down the field?  If yes, then he should be starting in September.  Beckman's job could depend on it.

I didn't answer the poll, because there is no way to tell right now.

Re: Aaron Bailey

I said No, simply because he won't be the answer at QB next season.  In 2014, maybe, but not this season.

I suppose ROT can show him the ropes and maybe teach him how to pass.

Given Illinois' history, I would say no.

I was thinking more of a rsFR year of learning with a proven QB developing coach like our OC, Coach Cubit.  2014 would be ROT's senior season, correct?  So, Bailey would be a rsFr in 2014 with a season of coaching from Cubit.  That should be the recipe moving forward, but we shall see.

From watching him play twice I was impressed at his power and throwing ability.  In the games I saw he appeared to be a step slow (but iirc he was coming off an injury).  He certainly is hard to take down (reminded me of a bulldozer!  biggrin).

Based on this info he might be the answer at RB !

I really hope he's good enough to start over Nate this year.

Hope we can get him on the field ASAP.

Sounds like a perfect player for the fullback position.

No way I can see that happening. Too hard for a first year guy to get the nod over a three year starter. He would have to be exceptional to say the least. I think he learns under Nate, which is not a bad thing. Nate does work very hard. There were few weapons for him to utilize, and the OLine this past year was abysmal.

I think it's about time to see what ROT can do as a full time starter. NS a tremendous leader and young man but has maxed out IMO. The defensive answer for him has been answered. ROT will win the QB job IMO.

I would add that Nate has maxed out at a very modest level, as well.  He did have a few good games but - not strong enough, not quick enough and seems to have lost any edge after the league got used to his limited capabilities.

Time for a new Qb with no tutaledge from Nate whatsoever.
