LOL.  You and your Beckman-defending brethren on here are the ones who need to "get over it" ... you turn EVERY thread about Beckman into the "blame Zook" thread ...

If you guys didn't keep bringing up Zook in every thread, then nobody would even be mentioning him ... but since you have no other way to reconcile Beckman's failure, I expect you'll keep "blaming Zook" well into next year and beyond ...

Says the guy that turns every thread into an Illinois b####fest.  rolleyes

Zook's deservedly gone.  Beckman obviously has to show improvement or he'll recieve the same fate.  It's incredibly simple, but somehow hard for you to comprehend.

He's better hope that Beckman and Groce figure things out, If they don't, he should be fired for the extremely sucky results of hjis poorly planned poorly executed searches.

Fire Mike Thomas.

Fire Coach Weber: Right move
Fire Coach Zook: Right move
Fire Coach Law: Right move
Hire Coach Groce: Looks good so far
Hire Coach Beckman: Doesn't look good so far
Hire Coach Bollant: Looks good so far

At worst, he's 5 for 6 in key coaching moves.  Light years better than his predecessor
Spot on.

Who are the schools knocking down the Zookers door??? Do you dispute that he admitted to not knowing the score during games???

I love how you cherry-pick this one part of a post that was 100% correct. Zook had to go, his time was done, and he is a lousy coach. The Beckman hire looks terrible right now, but that does not mean that firing Zook was a mistake. It had to be done.

Re: Mike Thomas is out of his league''

Hey, I liked Zook but he had more than a reasonable chance to get this turned around.

There should be no second guessing his firing. He didn't get it done.

He isn't destitute. He will be okay. He made a lot of money here. I have seen more complaints by some on here about his firing than from him. I wish he had got us turned around.

And to be fair, I would say anyone arguing Zook didn't get a chance should be willing to give Beckman the same 7 seasons of up and down (but  mostly down) years too.

I would add the following to MT's list:

Focus on Marketing:  New slogan, new branding, Chicago emphasis, Chicago radio up for renewal (see what MT does here).

I'd say that in this area he's surpassed his predecessor 100 fold.

Your knowledge of anything associated with Illini sports is shockingly low...actually your knowledge base period is shockingly low.

Well, that's not fair to Mike Thomas to phrase it that way... after all, even if he's 100 times better than RG, 100 x 0 = 0. tongue

I'm looking forward to seeing where the program is at in another 3-1/2 years (5 years in). There was a lot of low-hanging fruit for MT to grab, because his predecessor was so incompetent and didn't do anything... hopefully he keeps working to modernize the department (and gets the FB program rolling, too biggrin ).

What is the ratio of total posts by the OP vs the number that use the phrase "out of his league".

It can't be any higher than 3 to 1.

Saying over and over and over and over and over that John Doe is out of their league or Jim Doe is a weasel is the same as having nothing to say. Thread after thread the same fn thing "he's a weasel" or "he's out of his league"......enough already FFCS!
