I'd have to chew on this a while before taking a dip at it.

Beckman will be seen as one of the worst coaches ever to be in charge of a BCS school in modern history. Beckman wasn't even the worst hire last year, Ellis Johnson at Southern Miss was and it isn't even close. S. Miss. evidently agrees because they fired him after one year. Some folks just learn how to do things a little quicker.

There you go, blame it on Bush. Celebrity status doesn't do a president much good when it comes to decision making. Look no further than the celebrity in chief.

RE: Beckman's leagacy?
I certainly agree that Beckman has no legacy as of yet, and I doubt he ever builds one, any where. But he has certainly built a hell of a resume for stepping on his own throat. Forget the record - his problems lie mostly with general decision making and his "other than normal coaching" actions and antics have made us all look bad.
He seems to be a very poor decision maker - a real amatuer in most cases. The sooner he is gone the better for Illinois football. He is useless.
strange though - he has a chance of putting up a better effort next season with a decent if not really good recruiting class that will probably see a lot of Fr on the field next season. But - I'm confident we see more of the same clown act as last season.

Big Bob in Brandon I think we are looking at a 2-10 season again and maybe worse with no conference wins. Beckman may go down as the only IL coach to be fired and never win a conference game. If he lost 20 pounds last season, imagine how much he will lose this coming season. I guess his lasagna has not helped him keep on the weight.

Unfortunately, comparatively speaking, the Zooker's lookin' like a Hall-of-Famer at this point. ahsftbll32 wrote: You mean sorta like Guenther and Zook did? HairClubforSelf wrote: Beckman and Thomas' legacy will be very similiar to this

Re: Beckman's leagacy?
So, comparitively speaking, each coach had 2 wins and 0 conference wins in their first season. What sense does it make to compare a guys 7 year career to 1 season? I really can't believe people are talking about a "legacy" after 1 year. Let it play out. Re: Beckman's leagacy?
TB's back so it's playing out. I, for one, hope the staff turns it around. Otherwise, it'll be another coupla, few years before we're on the upswing. But even though there likely won't be many wins next season, TB's team must start showing significant progress and promise, in terms of player development, player production, player strength and conditioning, fundamentals, schemes, game management, enthusiasm, etc. There's no way around it. The UI administration and fans alike need something to hang their hat on while waiting for the W-L record to improve.
