RE: Clemson Next in the NIT

With St. John's losing, that gives us a nice little run if we can beat Clemson. Going against either an 8 seed or a 5 seed is much better than a 1 seed.

Edit: I looked at the wrong teams completely.  It was Belmont vs Robert Morris that play on Friday.

One game at a time, but Nashville is only about 2 hours away.

It would be tempting to head down there for the evening if we both advance.

Of course, I'll have to tell the wife, I'm going to the store for milk.... Maybe she won't notice it took 7 hours to buy it???

Groce specifically said on the post game that the tourney people had told us that we wouldn't play on Friday so our kids could go home for classes???????????

Hopefully a cpl others join Hill - rice and Bertrand for this next game. Man we did a lot of standing around watching Rice charge around and Abrams dribble a lot tonight.

After all of it though - rice had a great stat line.

We didn't look good but we get 3 or 4 more days of basketball.

Much better matchup! KJ McDaniels is a stud. He does it all and will be hard to contain. He also is an excellent defender and won ACC defensive player of the year if I'm not mistaken. So we can expect him to hound Ray all game and he has a good 2-3 inches on Rice and is more athletic. We will definitely need a couple other guys to step up on offense this game.

The good news is that Clemson is terrible from three point range which is where we struggle defensively and they overall struggle to score somewhat like us.

They are home though which probably gives them a good 5-7 point advantage there but overall we have the more talented team. If Knunn can get back in his groove and Abrams plays well offensively I think we should get the W.

Their defense is good because they hand check and grab the opposing players.  They play a big ten type of defense that is physical.  IMO, they get away with a lot at home, but this same style of defense doesn't travel very well in the ACC.  If they were in another conference, then they would probably be more successful.

Having said all that, if the officials let both teams play, then I like our chances.  If they just let Clemson play, then our season might be done.

Yep I agree at this point it's all about getting the guys comfortable playing together and building chemistry to make a strong run for next year. Post season play is still post season play. May not have the exact feel of the NCAA but it is still single elimination and every day more the guys spend together the better.
