Some years there's a player who really stands out as the best guy in the conference.  Some years the competition is close and the choice is less clear.

There are several players in the league this year in addition to Jorge who deserved consideration for POY.  One is Jared Cunningham at Oregon State, and another is Kyle Fogg at Arizona.  Both of those guys were absolutely critical to the performance of their respective teams.  The kid from Washington -- Wroten -- is another who deserved a look.

Apparently the Pac-12 coaches thought that Jorge would be the guy they would most like to add to their team.

Jorge prides himself on his defensive play.  I think he could get a look in the NBA for his defense if for no other reason.

That is why the conference is down. The coaches are dumb enough to think Jorge is the best player in the Pac12.

attitude than the facts.  Name a better defensive player?  You would be hard pressed to find a player in any conference that plays 100 percent all the time.  That, sir, is Jorge.  Does he get beat?  Yes, everyone get beaten occassionally.  However, in terms of being in the right place at the right time and playing good hard-nosed defense you rarely see someone the likes of Jorge.

As for deserving it, well it's not immodest if it's true.  The old cliche: "it's not bragging if you can do it."  Be happy he will not be shutting your puppies down any more.  UW has some talent.  Cal has the best coach.

Washington's highly touted freshman bricked FTs when it mattered most.
