Cal Bats vs. Lefties

Ryan - what is your take on Cal's bats vs. lefties?  We have 5 starting lefties in our order - Rodriguez, Dutto, Wark, Celsi, and Kranson.

Seems like we need 1 or 2 more RH Bats in there vs. lefties... we didn't do well at all vs. Michigan's Sunday starter.

Unfortunately Halamandaris is a lefty and our 3 big bats next year are right handed bats I believe.  Would love to see Diede step up.

Re: Cal Bats vs. Lefties

Diede's not quite ready. Obviously Pearson will get some at-bats this year, and he's a righty stick, but not much pop from him. Campbell showed a flash on Sunday with his bomb, but don't expect too many of those. Knapp flips around to righty and he's got power from both sides.

Yeah I counted Knapp as a righty stick.  We still have 5 LHB vs. southpaws, that's a ton.  I would find a way to start Pierson for Kranson or Celsi.

You're not going to trade Pearson for Celsi. Celsi brings too much to the table. If Rodriguez can play the field within a week or two as he told me he hopes to, then you can DH Kranson and flip him with Pearson for L/R match-ups.

Re: Cal Bats vs. Lefties

Ryan that makes sense.  And with Pierson you get a little more speed too.  All I'm saying is that if our lefties don't hit southpaws well we should try and get a few more right handed bats.  Of course you will always keep Rodriguez in there.
