It was a nice change of pace and NU certainly didn't expect it.  Rubenzer kept a couple of those early series alive, but you have to know when it's becoming eek1.  They got a little too cute with it and it almost cost them.  Not to mention that Rubenzer took a couple of shots and he isn't going last long doing that.

Fitzgerald admitted they weren't ready for the Rubenzer maneuver.

Re: QB Platooning?

I think you need to give Coach Sonny some credit for creating the element of surprise against NWtern.  Other positives were lack of penalties (a few towards the end of the game) and only the Treggs injury on our side of the ball had to stop the game.  And he came back in the 2nd half.cool

The questionable decisions, which several folks have already mentioned, are all good learning experiences for the future game planning and our potential to improve.

We need to be able to tighten up the D in the 2nd half to prevent future scares.

Hopefully we do not show too much more of the playbook against Sac State, so we can pull out another few tricks for Arizona.  In fact, I hope Rubenzer sits on the bench for the whole 1st half next week (assuming we can build a 4-5 TD lead by then without him).  I want him to come in a play with the 2nd Team and get his confidence up with his passing.

I have a good feeling that we COULD be 5-1 or 4-2 by the time the fUCLA game comes to Berkeley.
