Dykes Luncheon Notes

Dykes Luncheon Notes

Just a friendly reminder to ask the following questions to Sonny Dykes in between bites of pizza...

1. Will you prioritize putting the best athletes on defense?

2. If so, might you also allow your most talented DBs to also play some WR?

3. Will there be a Spring GAME (not a silly O vs. D situational exhibition)?

4. If so, will it be televised?

5. Will the yardage stats be shown on the scoreboard?

Re: Reminder to Ryan...

Said that switching guys from one side to the other may happen, but it's not going to be done willy-nilly. The problem with, say, moving WRs to DB is that they only have 5 WRs on scholarship, and that's not enough for this offense, so we might see some movement in that direction.

There will be a spring game, personnel permitting. The OL and DL are thin as it is, and he always starts the year wanting to have a spring game, but by the time it rolls around, there's just not enough bodies. He's hoping that changes this year.

The Pac-12 will be televising all conference spring games.

Didn't get to ask the stats question, but his other comments ("This is not my program. This program belongs to Cal.") indicate that should happen.

What an incredible concept!  Yet more words from the new staff that are EXACTLY what I want to here they believe.

I never got the impression Tedford felt this way.

Re: Reminder to Ryan...

It's nice to see that the media and fans will have someone in coach Dykes that is refreshingly honest and interesting to talk to.
