QUITTERS

QUITTERS Post Rating (4 votes)

The players quit on Tedfraud last night.  Just like they quit on him in the second half last week.  Just like they quit in Big Game.

I'm not sure it's all Tedfraud's fault, but he's sure as hell gonna fall on the sword for it.  It's gonna take time to replace this crop of players with guys who have heart and will play four quarters for twelve games.

Seek professional help.  I know attention, any attention whether positive or negative, is preferred to the vast indifference you see reflected in the faces of people you meet, but you will never get well being obnoxious on an internet board.  This cry for help is sad and only reflects poorly on the institution with which you claim allegiance.

His identity is pretty wrapped up in the recent success of Stanford football.  All kidding aside, I hope he's okay when the program inevitablly declines.  Images of the guy on the ledge. eek1

Stop being an apologist.  He is closer to the truth than you are.  This team is riddled with players just 'going thru the motion'.  Just watch the O Line try and block and the D Line getting pushed around.  The defensive backfield is always 'out of position' and makes poor choices as to coverage.  Those 'elite 11 clipboard QB's' are really lighting up the Pac 12 aren't they?  The Guru has never developed a decent QB from freshman to senior, Rogers was a 'stumble on' while Tedford was looking at a Tight End at Butte College ... very, very lucky.  He didn't need 'development' as the following pack of mid to low tier qb's have shown the quality of the development?  Too bad Teford couldn't swing by Foothill High in Pleasanton on his was to Danville and look over that 'no interest' kid named Mannion.  Tedford is now hung up on national recruiting of the quality of players shown in the last two games.  The next coach needs to concentrate on northen Califlornia and then southern California to keep very good players from going to Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, ....  That last 'offered' 5' 10" corner back from Georgia will look equaly inept as the current cb's handling Stanford and Washington's tight ends.  This is a nightmare that won't go away quickly.  At least Holmoe recruited quality and not the 'pitch and catch' dynamic duo and 'hangers on' from North Carolina.  Look at the Bears record before you comment.  Being from 'out of state' doesn't automatically make a player better.  It looks to be a desperate 'reach' at this point.  The Pass Receiving Record needs an asterick(*).  Allen never lived up to the hype or was ever a game changing receiver.  It will be interesting to see if He is as good as advertised as a professional with a real qb throwing to him.  It's time for a change, passed time.  How many blowout losses in the last four seasons and no touchdowns against SC in what five?  Yep,.. we need much more than a 'deep dive'.  A hard 'jerk' about five years ago may have produced far better results but it's tough spending time on recruiting and player development while being the mastermind for the transformation to Texas Tech 'lite'.

While I agree with a lot of what you say, I think you might be treating Tedford and Keenan Allen in a rather over-simplified manner.

It may be time for a change at the HC position but do we justify that by tearing down what JT has done here?  He manages to find Rodgers and he's a lucky schmuck but he misses Mannion and he's a dolt.  Of course this dolt develops Rodgers but doesn't get your credit for that.  Really?  As for local recruiting, I remeber when everyone was screaming about him ignoring national prospects in lieu of local ones.  Irony.

Allen accomplishes what he has with Maynard and you wonder if he'll achieve with a sounder, more accurate and experienced passer??  Of course, I'm not the only one that has bought into the "hype."  He's currently CBS/NFL DraftScout.com's #1 WR prospect for the 13 NFL draft....as a junior....

Predictable, except for Dduster who is bringing strong knowledge and salient points rather than CHEERLEADING.

Specifically what part constitutes "cheerleading?"

Tedford Quit on The Team

When Tedford benched Maynard for the Nevada game without telling the players or giving the backup qb reps in practice, in reality, he quit on the team.  At that time, they knew he did not have their back.

"Recent success"?  Other than the anomaly of 2002-06, the record suggests that Stanford football , while not easily mistaken for Michigan's all-time winning percentage, is respectable to say the least.  It's Cal's record for football success that's relatively "recent": those five "golden" seasons of '02 thru '07.  Other than that, it's hardly a storied legacy on the gridiron.  At least not in the post leather-helmet era.
THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR VICTORY.

Since 1980, Stanford is .490 and Cal is .460....why so puffed up?

Re: QUITTERS

Tedford developed Rodgers!!!! If Tedford could develop QB's he would have done something with all the others and Rodgers wouldn't have been unique. In fact when gets his hands on a QB he doesn't get better, rather he regresses.

Re: QUITTERS

Tedfraud did not develop Rodgers.  Rodgers fell into his lap, and was already a great QB.  But that was EIGHT YEARS AGO and he has accomplished almost nothing since

The biggest issues with the last five-plus years of Tedfraud:
- coaching carousel has led to a complete lack of stability in who is teaching the kids how to play.  This is reason #1 that for all of the Cal football players in the NFL they can't win.  Those players are learning & developing once they get to the NFL, but Tedfraud hasn't taken advantage of the talent
- stepping to far away from coaching the QBs and running the offense.  Maybe he doesn't have time for it any more or he no longer wants to do it.  Either way, combined with the above point it shows
- not dealing with cancers in the locker room.  MeSean Jackson is candidate #1.  And his handling of Maynard's suspension this year was pathetic.

I readily admit to being a Stanford fan.  But I want to see competitive Big Games, and whether it was Willingham winning 7 in a row, Buddy Ball and "Not My Fault" Walt against good Cal teams, or the Fighting Harbaughs & Shaws against Cal program on the decline, there have been too few Big Games over the last 15-20 years that you could call exciting.  I want to see Big Game being played by two bowl-bound teams with one or both needing to win to take the Pac12 North crown.  That will never happen as long as Tedfraud remains your HC.

2 sets of rules for various players & MeSean is a perfect example. It resulted in JT firing an experienced assistant but MeSean left early anyway. That guy is now on Michigan's staff.  Nice call.
