Preference for new coach?

Preference for new coach? Post Rating (1 vote)

Assuming Coach is let go tomorrow at his meeting with our AD, who do you guys think a good replacement would be? I am a bit more of a realist than most, I don't expect to steal Boise State's heart and soul, or outbid several SEC schools for talent.

I think something very doable would be Justin Wilcox as HC, Coach Lupoi as DC, and a Bob Stitt type for OC. That is, I'd like to bring in a coach to toughen up the program, a la Jim Mora Jr., but I'd like an innovative offensive mind who is NOT running the program.

Wilcox would be a solid hire, and a guy like Stitt would love to try his hand at this level.

We have moves to make if we are smart, even if we don't have an enormous budget.

Forget about Peterson.
Justin Wilcox -- why?
Lupoi -- Would France nominate Hitler to be the first PM at the end of WWII?
I like the idea of a head coach who is not the defensive or offensive coordinator. We need a top dog who can direct the program and supervise/coordinate/evaluate the coaching performance. Tedford has demonstrated that being your own coordinator (offense or defense) may work for a while, but it's hard to objectively evaluate one's own performance -- i.e., you may get fired, but it's rare that anyone fires himself.
It can now be said unequivocally that Mora has been a homerun for ucla.
Cal is somewhat in the same situation that ucla was at the end of last season. We have all the pieces, but we need someone who can get the Cal community to believe that we can win and who can put all the pieces together.

Ron Rivera perhaps.   Figure the guy is about to get fired from Carolina.

In other words, you really don't have any background or insight on any potential coaches but couldn't pass the smallest temptation to rant aimlessly.

You're having a great year.  How is Cal even in your sights at this moment?

I'd be interested to know if AD Barbour solicited feedback from the players on their opinion of Coach Tedford and their faith / belief that Coach Tedford could turn the program around, what their responses would be.

Should Coach Tedford be relieved of his HC position . . . let's start dialogue w/ Herm Edwards!

I went down to the beach and saw ki-ki, and she was all like "errrhh".  And, I'm like "Whatever!"

Shows how invested in Stanford he actually is.  "His" university staff has a democrat to republican ratio of almost 7:1 and he's running off at the mouth about Kal.  biggrin  What a silly clown.
