Even more surprising is the fact that he didn't start over Maynard all season. I think he is a much better QB, and probably one of the best passers I've seen in the pac-12 all season.
Aside from telescoping a few passes(is that what you meant about floating it?), he was great. He was dropping balls into coverage in ways I haven't seen anyone do in the pac-12. Very nice touch, and deadly accurate.
He's probably the most accurate passer, I have seen at Cal since Aaron Rodgers, and I'm basing that on seeing him play in a lot of practices before coming into this game.
His main problems are, release, vision and velocity. Vision and release can be improved. Velocity isn't a deal breaker, especially not in college. I thought his performance against Nevada was not very impressive, but after seeing this game, I have changed my mind on him. He looked similar last week too.
I'm excited about Allan Bridgford.
