USC and Nebraska will always be pre season top 20. Not saying they aren't top 20 worthy, it's just these schools don't have to prove themselves like we do.

I'm calling it right now: we win one of those 2 games.

Whoa, way to step out on a ledge! In a similar vein, I'll predict "heads" for the first coin toss...

Boise State's reputation is still helping them. Their votes from 2 polls got them on the list. I guess this is good, since they are the only MWC team in the preseason rankings, even if it is at #33.

I thought it was interesting that Duke is ranked No. 29....  Hmmm.....

Why not, they return their starting QB.

Thanks, Captain Obvious.  That wasn't my point.  My point was that usually people make predictions that are strong one way or the other.  If he would've said "We'll win both", or "We'll lose both", either would've been stronger predictions than "we win one of those 2 games"....no big deal either way,  it's a loooong offseason...we don't have much to talk about....

Re: 2 of our opponents in consensus top 20.

Duke should be ranked #29……...maybe a little higher.  Their O-line was and will be great again……they have a ton of talent at WR and one of the best QB's in the country (Boone) returning.  Boone is so good that Brandon Connette rarely got off the bench the last month of the season (4 games).  Against Wake Forest, North Carolina, Florida State in the ACC championship game and Texas A & M in the bowl……Connette rushed for 17 yards on 11 carries and passed for 3 yards on 2 of 5 attempts.  Boone is their guy.  Connette was never a threat to his job……and Duke will be a factor again 2014.

A perfect schedule if we were an elite Fresno team

Two big name powerhouse OOC teams. Both are good (top 20) but neither are great (top 10). One at home one on the road.

A chance for an impressive road win in conference @ BSU

Hopefully hosting another decent team at home in the MCW champ game.

A tough enough schedule to get a ton of respect but at the same time not impossible.

I doubt we are good enough to take advantage of this schedule but it sets ups well under the current access bowl system

We go 12-1 = we get the automatic access bowl bid that is allotted to the little guys

We go 11-2 (provided we beat either USC or Neb)= we still have a GREAT chance to get the automatic access bowl bid that is allotted to the little guys.

So our access bowl hope are not officially over until we lose to both Neb and USC, lol.
