Mater Dei's Allen rushes for 312 yards

MISSION VIEJO – Throughout the week, the Mater Dei coaching staff delivered a message to Justin Allen.

“You want to just do something better,” they told him.

It was meant to keep Allen focused after he ran for a career-high 244 yards against Servite last week. From his first touch on Friday, Allen was on his way toward raising the bar.

Allen took that first carry for 27yards and scored a touchdown on his second. He later added three more scores, rushing for a career-high 312 yards on 25 carries as No. 2 Mater Dei pounded No. 7 JSerra, 38-14, in a Trinity League game at Saddleback College on Friday.

The Monarchs dominated the game on the ground, rushing for 405 yards and averaging 9.6 yards a carry.

Allen's final carry was the longest, a 69-yard run down the right sideline for a touchdown that put the Monarchs (7-0, 2-0) ahead, 38-14, with 9:44 to play.

That was also the record-shattering run.

“It's just my role,” Allen said. “To me, it's nothing really out of the ordinary.”

About the only thing that slowed Allen and Mater Dei was a turnover at the start of the game that delayed the Monarchs' offense from coming onto the field for the first time.

In the last two games, Justin Allen had gained 556 yards with six touchdowns. The Eagles limited Allen to just 5 yards before he left on the second half with a lower leg injury.

this injury cost him playing games !!!!!!!!!!!  i believe it was a bad ankle injury. (not sure)
other factors may have been the reason he wasn't signed earlier though

That's a highlight film against some very serious opposition. He wasn't running over cupcakes!

I would say he looks Ryan Mathews like.  Good vision, quick cuts, explosive.  And he's got a good size frame on him. Plus it looks as if he can catch the ball.

He'll be playing in the OC All Star game on July 10.  http://ocsidelines.com/?p=8170

Friday, November 1, 2013

Week 10 Mater Dei vs. OLU

Perhaps he can convince Mater Dei four-star OLB Ben Humphreys to sign with the 'Dogs.

WOW, another Logan Mankins-type find! (The only other school that recruited Mankins was Merced College).

I was expecting him to teabag the DB.

That cut in between the tackles at the 3:50 sec mark was sick. Routinely made guys miss and got the corner. Can't wait to see him play.
