Pretty cool site and a fair assessment also. The score is realistic, but I think we can put a scare in them. This game won't be over by halftime like in Vegas. The site touted their three running backs, but I think our front seven will take care of business. I know Cody Kessler will be licking his chops to exploit our DB's again and have another career day, so what can you say? We've got to get it together back there, or as Yogi said, "it's deja-vu all over again." And please, may we not be embarrassed by special teams again. If they execute another on-side kick I'll...

Yeah, I agree.  Good article and a reasonable score prediction.

USC is just too talented and too deep at every position for us to realistically have a shot at knocking them off.  I would love to be surprised, however...

Re: USC Preview of Fresno State

A few points in the Bulldog's favor:

First game of the season, what will be the motivation level of the mighty Trojans?

USC is breaking in a new coaching staff and new offensive and defensive schemes

Level of talent at USC not in question, but overconfidence could be an issue

Conventional wisdom suggests last year's Bulldogs team was one of the best in the past several years, and this year's team is less talented, less to be feared or concerned over

Fresno 's offense is a wildcard this year, no tape on this year's offense to study.

Fresno 's defense is a big question mark?

will the defense be good, will the pass defense be better?

Alot of talk about all the talent Fresno lost last year, and very little said about USC.

USC will be w/o the services of Marqise Lee, we still have Nelson Agholor to deal with

half of its starting offensive lineman, gone to the NFL

Dion Bailey, LB converted to Safety who was USC's version of Deron Smith last year is gone to the NFL.

Bailey was all over the field last year, blowing up screens, etc.  I won't miss that guy at all.

George Uko, DE, parade all american and former defensive player of the year is gone to the NFL.

He was part of the one two punch with All American Leonard Williams who can play tackle or defensive end.

Devon Kennard, LB and edge rusher gone to the NFL

Xavier Grimble TE gone to the NFL.

Silas Reed, RB gone to the NFL.

USC had 3 players drafted and 8 others sign as free agents this year by the NFL.
That's is a lot of talent to replace in one year, even for USC.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common.  They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views.

I'm tiring of the "level of talent" talk. SCs talent level hasn't done chit for them since 2005. We fawn over their talent level and yet I just left a dinner in Atlanta where SEC guys think SC is a has been joke. It's all a matter of perspective.

Make no mistake I am looking for an upset here.

but Fresno cannot make the same mistakes last year against USC and expect to win.

Offense was way too one dimensional, 61 total plays, only 6 rushing plays for 36 yds

High risk high reward passing attack offense sputtered and failed to show up against USC's  tough defense

Special teams play sucked, missed PATs, kick offs out of bounds, kick offs too short, sucker for the onside kick, do i need to go on with this?

time of possession - USC had ball over 20 minutes longer than Fresno and wore the Fresno defense down, Fresno's hurry up offense might want to rethink their strategy, a hurry up 3 and out is not what I had in mind

Defensive play - Fresno was trying to cover NFL caliber WRs like Lee and Agholor with what amounted to 3rd and 4th string players, that was no contest.  Lee and Agholor accounted for 4 TDs by themselves, it looked like pitch and catch out there.

If Fresno wants to win this game they have to address these issues, if they don't or can't the game could get ugly again, talent or no talent.

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common.  They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views.

Well if someone from the mighty SEC said it, then case closed.

There talk is backed up by their performance on the field. Or do you care to debate that one?
