Lacrosse....
Anyone catch the end of the Bee article from today regarding yesterday's practice? Jensen and Adams wanted to get some extra work in after practice but were shooed off the field because the lacrosse team had a scheduled practice.
Is the field on the east side of the stadium used for anything? Do the Lacrosse or Soccer teams practice or hold games there??
I've thought I heard that they do not. If true, Boeh should have a lot of explaining to do. They build that field in prime tailgating real estate and don't use it? Then football (the sport that financially supports everything else in the athletic department) gets "shooed" off the field by lacrosse?
This is a microcosm of why this country continues to slip.

That's pretty frustrating. You build them a field and they don't use it? That field has to be one of the biggest flops since Boeh took over. An eye sore, waste of $, and completely useless. Is it too late to bulldoze it and say, "we were JK guys"?

Re: Lacrosse....
I caught that too and wondered why the hell do we have a dedicated field to women's lacrosse and soccer when it's not put to use! It was a very bad decision to build it there and build without any intention of using it. I've heard the excuse of spectators eating as an issue. But come on, put a few portable bleachers up and use the damn field.... Otherwise, let the tailgaters use it and enervate some money

Re: Lacrosse....
The lacrosse team probably practices on the football field because that is where they play their games and they need to get used to their "home field".
They do not play their games on the lacrosse/soccer field because this field does not have bleachers, restrooms or facilities to sell food. This is because they have no money to build these things.
I'm more concerned with the yellow markings on the field for soccer and lacrosse. Last season the markings were not too noticeable during the football games but I noticed at the Sweeney service that the yellow lines were everywhere on the field. I certainly hope they know how to remove all traces of these lines when football season starts.
Football fans payed for the installation of the Field Turf. I am willing to guess that the fans of the soccer team and the lacrosse team paid nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Re: Lacrosse....
The sad part is a number of contributors that made contributions to the Bulldog foundation for years and were season football ticket holders were lost when they had to give up their Red lot parking passes.
The white lot was full so these people who were large contributors were displaced with no real equivalent option to tailgate and just dropped out. The stage in the red lot where they had the bands and entertainment was done away. The Red lot was a College football tradition tail gate lot before the Lacrosse field .
Not much foresight in that move if they didn't have the money to complete it.

THis is spot on... and it has cost the university some big donors. Once agains, PC working against common sense. They need to do away with the lacrosse field and make the red lot the way it use to be. Let your voice be heard. Unfortunately for you, doing so on the barkboard wont help. Write a letter to Welty and Boeh. Put it in the Bee and the school paper. Make sure its well thought out. Then you might start getting somewhere.

This is ridiculous. Are you guys saying that we shouldn't share any facilities? What about the volleyball team using the SVC? Maybe you guys would want them to paint some stripes in a parking lot and use that??
There shouldn't be any problem with the lacross team using the stadium, same goes for the soccer team. These teams help further promote our school...and the staduim. The majority of D1 school share the facilities. Do their fans complain as much as you guys do?
A couple of our players wanted to get some extra practice in. Great! No problem, we still have that practice area that we used to use. Let the other programs use the staduim when they can.

The volleyball team has the north gym. The Lacross team has the Lacross field. It's not that complicated.
BTW, the only thing the Lacross team promotes for the university is losing. "Check us out! We're losers with Fresno State on our small chests!l"

The football team does have an entire practice facility to themselves but the condition of the grass is so bad that I doubt they'll use it at all this month.

RE: Lacrosse....
What he's saying is that Sweeney field wouldnt be there without the FB team. Certainly not as field turf (and not without the Mankins family). Lacross shouldn't take prioirity on it when they've already usurped the FB practice field and have it turned to a lacrosse field.
Then again, since we don't know all the details and Lacross could have booked the time slot.... Nah, this is what the interweb was intended for. Rampant speculation.

Re: Lacrosse....
The painful truth is Title IX! All the bitchin, sorry, no pun intended, and moaning won't change a thing, Title IX is here to stay. ROW is absolutely correct, it was lacrosse or loose another men's program. And if lacrosse ment using, infringing or you pick the adjective, on men's sports facilities, so be it! This is the way it's going to be unless or until the State College BOR changes their interpretation of the law. And yes, the law is interpreted differently in almost every state. Here's what is really crazy, state colleges in California interpret it differently than the UC system does??????

4-51 overall, and all 4 wins came last season and this season. They're actually starting to get girls now from back east who have grown up playing lacrosse and not just filling out a roster full of valley girls who don't even know the rules of the game and losing by 20 to the likes of Canisius and Detroit.

4-51, yeah. They sure "represent" the university well.
That is to the two people who actually watch them play.

Re: Lacrosse....
It's not even a matter of having a lacrosse team..... The question presented was, is the soccer/lacrosse field that was installed evn used for the intended purpose? Wtf was the rush to put in if no one was going to use it when they risked alienating fans and boosters, again.... Just like dropping wrestling.

They need to stock the team with nothing but "hotties" and at least increase the number of viewers. I doubt if a "hottie" can play much worse. Yea, 4-51 may as well be "hotties".

RE: Lacrosse....
While it may not solve the issue of women's soccer using the stadium but the university did just build a brand new pool and it would make too much sense to drop lacrosse and add women's water polo, a true west coast sport. In fact most collegiate teams are right here in CA, reducing travel costs and making recruiting easier.

However Somebody in the University made the decision that the Lacrosse Field was needed and spent money from the Athletic Department. The problem is they didn't have enough money to get it done. F title 9... I don't give a sh*t about gender equality I care about Fresno State doing well and fact is that we took a perennial top 25 wrestling program in one the best wrestling regions in the country to make way for a 4-51 women's lacrosse team? How does that make any sense? I'm sorry but women and men are not equal, our bodies and minds are very very different. I know my rant accomplishes nothing but making me feel better but this is ridiculous.... 4-51? I can't get over that number... A 0.078 winning percentage... Makes me sick
