RE: Boise St suspends two players

Coach Pete suspended BOTH players mid-season ...

The only thing Pete is interviewing is the best recruiting class in the history of Boise State tomorrow ... currently ranked #42 but with one more big-time recruit hanging that might push us into the Top 40 ...

Pete did pretty well with classes ranked 55-65 .... so lets see what he can do with this group ...

This "suspension" is ancient news ... goes back to October ... this was just the announcement that the Student Review Board was unwilling to overturn their expulsions from school ...

This is the normal spring semester opening housekeeping where the roster is updated ... players are dropped and the January arrivals are added to the roster ...

Ancient news or not, it's still very ugly for bsu...especially given that bsu is not far removed from a previous incident.

The only way these two won't be re-enrolled by fall and on the roster is if they've fallen out of the two deep on the depth chart.

Yes, punishment/discipline is inversely proportional to your football skills at Boise.  The better you are, or more needed, the less results you will have in breaking rules.  God help you though if you are on the scout team or something...

Titus Young was claimed off of waivers by the Rams about 30 minutes ago.

Hightower and Plinke were both expelled from school for non school related infractions (i.e. wasn't cheating) and have both been suspended since October. A young kicker, Van Ginkel, was also kicked off the team at the same time.

You are full of sh¡t.  They were expelled for something going on in their house, it was legal.  Raunchy, but legal.

RE: Boise St suspends two players

These guys were both very good players. Hightower was a starting safety and a damn good one, like all MWC good. Plinke was a very athletic true freshman tight end.

The players were not suspended for a violation of the law or for academic reasons. Let's just say if your son did what these guys did you would be ashamed. You would think these two would know better. Plinke was a HS class president and Hightower was also recruited by Yale. In other words they weren't a couple of thug type kids. They just did something really stupid.

And for your information Coach Pete announced today neither player will be returning next year.

STDsteve claiming it was anything academic shows he is piece of human waste liar. Hightower and Plinke had better academic profiles out of HS than anybody on the Fresno roster.   They were expelled for doing something most men wish they could, and using the BSU brand in their sales pitch.

The guys did something against the rules, they were suspended, then kicked out. Both were  outstanding players and had good grade. How many SEC schools would boot them? How many Fresno players  have done stuff comparable and the public has never known about it?  Pete runs the cleanest program in the country. Titus was suspended for a year and wasn't allowed backed until he toed the line. What happened after he left is certainly out of BSU's control. No one runs a cleaner program than Petersen. Anyone who thinks otherwise is FOS.

Ok, we'll go with your assessment and they won't return.  Time will tell but BSU has a track record of letting guys who are legit contributors back on the team which is why I made the comment.

RE: Boise St suspends two players

Cam Hall is the only player I can think of who never should have been reinstated to the football team and that was under Dan Hawkins. Other players have received suspensions some for most of the season including Titus Young and Mike Atkinson. We missed both of those guys badly. We missed Hightower a lot this season, but I trust in our coaches decision.

Boise State has had their share of kids that have done stupid things, but the coaching staff does their best to recruit high character kids and is better than most in disciplining them when necessary. Coach Pete is more about building good men than he is about sending players to the NFL.

They're not kidding. That's how they see the world.

Along with Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, USC, Boise.

You don't even have to ask them, that's what they see.

I think Petersen is a great coach and a quality person. But to say no one runs a cleaner program is pretty presumptuous considering BSU has been sanctioned by the NCAA under his watch and multiple players have been dismissed from the team. Other coaches have players who do well in school and graduate. In addition, other coaches dismiss players when they don't do what they're supposed to do. He's a coach trying to win games and avoid trouble just like all the rest.

All of a sudden Donk players kicked off the team or suspended sky rockets.

Re: Boise St suspends two players

Let's see how defensive Fresno fans get the next time one of your own screws up. It will happen. It happens to every team. Boise kicks players off the team and it's not enough. What do you want to happen? Take away their birthdays? Their schollies are gone. They are out of school.
We also lost a highly rated DT this week. He was offered a chance to redeem himself and for whatever reason he didn't make it happen, or continue to make it happen, and has been dismissed.
We are bummed that these guys couldn't follow the rules.

Cryptic? What do you expect when neither you nor most of the rest of us, know what the infractions were? BSU fans aren't being cryptic. We don't know enough re the infractions to get to cryptic. I was uber happy when the ncaa went to naming names on penalties. I wanted to really know who committed that false start. Now, I'd also like to have some delineation on why players are kicked out. But in our PC society we have to protect the guilty along with the not-as-guilty, and the sorta innocent.
