Tim McDonald - Jets?
Anyone hear anything about Tim McDonald going to coach at the Jets? Nick Papagni from ESPN AM940 tweeted that Sal Paolantonio is reporting this, but I can't find any information on this anywhere else. Hopefully it's just a bunk rumor...?

RE: Tim McDonald - Jets?
Papagni's bread and butter is high school sports and I wouldn't listen to much of what he says outside that realm.
That said, T-Mac won't last long at Fresno. He's far too talented and some major college or pro team will wave a lot of money in his face and scoop him up. He's pretty much passed on his restaurant responsibilities to Matty J and his kids are all out of HS so there's little that would tie him down to Fresno at this point of his coaching career.

Dwayne walker is rumored to have taken Jags secondary coaching posiition. If true, scratch that one off. however, USC DB position just opened up.

T-Mac would take the USC DB coaching job faster than LK could offer it to him.

Positives with Cameron...he is coaching the position right now, he knows the valley, former FS and NFL player, AND, a lot of connections and familiarity with him through his clinic, Passing Down.

Would he want to take a position at USC under Lane Kiffen? >>>> They just had another recruit decommit-- six have already decommitted. Things are not going well in the land of Troy.

Jets job is shaky also, if Rex Ryan doesn't win this year then he will be gone.

Then how did we get the good assistants in the first place? And why isn't it repeatable? ZK686 wrote:

Not a huge surprise. When McDonald came, most knew this was a jumping stone for him. Plus, if he leaves, there's plenty of former Bulldogs who will jump at the opportunity to fill that position. H2OPoloDan wrote: Bee reported that he initiated the job hunt-he wants out of FS...

Re: Tim McDonald - Jets?
I was hoping he would stay a couple of years but figured he might go to the NFL at some point. Especially if he plans to be a HC someday at D1.
I think Worrell would be an outstanding replacement if that happens

RE: Tim McDonald - Jets?
Don't know about his resume so much. McDonald had no college experience up until Fresno State. Right now, he's striking while the iron's hot. He's riding on Phillip Thomas and the defensive secondary's performance and using that while he can. People knew he wasn't going to be at Fresno State for long. Fact is, it would be a stretch of any imagination to call him loyal to anything Fresno State; he has connections to the city, but not the university. The question was how long would it take before he leaves. One year seems optimistic, but he has results to help his resume. Not a surprise that he sought out jobs first. ROFLCOPTERofDoom wrote:

What about Cory Hall? Takata asked him if he was interested and he gave Takata an emphatic "Yes".

You won't find a shortage of guys willing to step in. If you can imagine the many reasons why DeRuyter must've gone after McDonald, similar reasons can be made for guys like Worrell and Hall. I will miss him he was a great influence on the team... I just never thought that TMac would leave the Valley especially only after one season at the college level. I wish him good luck.

Re: Tim McDonald - Jets?
This probably isn't the popular choice for people on the board, but there was another coach on the staff last year, who was listed as "Assistant DB Coach", Jordan Peterson. Gotta wonder if he's going to step in to take over Coach McDonald's job.

RE: Tim McDonald - Jets?
Tims name alone helped a lot with recruiting. Tough loss for the program. Really hope the Dogs can play their way onto the bigger stage from a national perspective to make the program attractive to larger conferences. Coach McDonald may be the first of many changes over the next few years.

If as you say, this "may be the first of many changes over the next few years", hopefully comes as a result of the growing success of the program on the field. It is certainly up to the AD and coaches to see that it continues to grow, but more importantly, it is up to the fans, the community to see that is grows from here.

How is it up to the fans being the most important? Do the fans play the game? Do the fans coach the players? Do the fans control the Administration? It seems to me it is up to the Administration, coaches and players to demonstrate what it is which makes the fans have greater interest or less interest. There is an obvious correlation with winning programs having greater fan interest and participation. Concern yourself with doing your part for it is all for which you have control. Others will make their own determination for themselves.
