My Top 5

My Top 5

So I received a call from the Bulldog Ticket office this morning. I'm sure many of you are getting such calls asking how was my game day experience at Bulldogs Stadium! I laughed and asked how serious was he. So I let'em have it...

#1 Food Service/Vendor absolutely must go (slow service, rude, limited choices, poor signage( u cant get a hot dog or other food at all concessions) and did I say slow)!!!!!
#2 Add flat screen TV's to both the West and East side concessions(fans go to watch the game not there to watch the pathetically slow food service)!!
#3 tailgating needs to be an event.. (more space, more time allowed (like the south most are there the day before))!
#4 Ditch Fiesta night and do more with Ag night (more $ that is not being tapped into IMO. Get a booth at the Ag Expo next month, give away free txts to these cooperate farms and other large Ag companies, do txt specials for farmers not just on Ag night but for the entire season. We need their $$$$!)
#5 Do more Red outs or black out stuff! If we do a military appreciation night use our school colors for the camo shirts.

I stopped there bc I didn't want to overwhelm the poor guy but little things go along way to having a happy fan base!!

Go Dogs!!!

#6: The deplorable condition of the restrooms. I've experienced nicer ones in third-world countries.

Broken soap dispensers, broken towel dispensers, ice cold water only.

The University needs to come up with a long term plan to make improvements to the stadium...I am not even talking about enhancements, I am talking about replacing worn out, beaten down amenities that have not been touched since the stadium opened. The red seats have faded to a lovely shade of pink. The lights are terrible as well.

It's time to think about some selling stadium naming rights.

Spoken like a future card-carrying AA member. "Hi, I'm 8588 Alcoholic". Everyone in the room with the same last name. lol

No way.  I was at the CAL game and I saw things I have NEVER seen at any kind of sporting event. It was much more than just one isolated incident.  That game proved to me we truly cannot handle alcohol inside the stadium.

Re: My Top 5

I know things tend to add up, however, the bathroom conditions are some of the worst I have ever seen.  I feel like it would take only a minimal amount of finances to at least make these endurable....

Is the Univ. really this broke?  Are there no additional donors who are now willing to buy back in to Bulldog football?

Wait until Cal-OSHA examines the crumbling concrete stair-steps on the east side. Fix things now, or get ready to pay six-figure fines.

Re: My Top 5

I say naming rights to a bathroom....can you see the pitch, for a measly $20,000 toilet bowl cleaner company you can have a restroom named after your company!!! Yes that is right we will name a sh!tter the Clorox Bleach restroom. We will include logos and signage. It will be the cleanest bathroom in the stadium. Or for $250,000 we will name them all after your company.

Okay I am joking but I sure wish Fresno St had just an ounce of creativity.

I'm stunned they didn't do something like that 10 years ago.

Re: My Top 5

In case I'm not called maybe they'll read this thread, Game Day Experience at Bulldog Stadium is not bad but can be a lot better:

Takes Money: Yes upgrade the restrooms; it's no fun when your shoes or your kids shoes stick to the floor! Service them several times during the game.

Doesn't take Money: Main thing is find a way to get fans into the Stadium before the teams take the field. 1. Get a few BDF Ambassadors to circulate the parking, tailgate and gate areas to greet fans and thank them and also remind them how important it is to the players and recruits for the fans to be in their seats before they run down the ramp and also ask for 'ideas' to improve gameday. I love that as  visiting fans we're greeted at Reno, TA&M, LSU and other stadiums. Give free bottles of water to visiting fans.

2. Sound the siren at 30 minutes before kickoff. Ambassadors show everyone how easy it is to stop what you're doing and walk to the stadium. 3. Time Out and the Cheerleaders be at every gate from 1 hr to 1/2 hr before kickoff off greeting fans and taking pictures with them and giving out coupons for free food, discounts on food and coupons for free T Shirts. Stop at 1/2 hr. prior to KO. 4. Give 25% off season tickets for first time buyers and reduce endzone prices until sell outs are regular.

5. Let the band march down the aisles and sell CDs or DVDs to raise $ for them as before. 6. Give free seat upgrades to 2 dozen fans. Fresno Lexus does this at Broadway shows at Saroyan. 1 hr prior to KO the ticket office can pull 2 dozen unsold red or BDF seats. At 1/2 hr before KO cheerleaders can pick 2 dozen fans at random from the Public seats and upgrade them to BDF/Red seats for one game and also give them Buy one, Get one free coupons for BDF/Red seats for the next home game. Make a PA announcement and show some of them on the Video Board. Good PR and shows them what a few more $ gets them.

Yes ditch fiesta night in it's current format. Make Ag night a big deal. Make Military Appreciation day annual near what ever game is close to Veterns Day. No on the Red Out Black Out nights. Those generally flop. WE WEAR RED!

RE: My Top 5

Forgot my most important personal idea. Let the purple lot also empty onto Cedar Ave. Routing everyone east towards the SMC is dumb.

Yes there are some safety issues involved with allowing cars to go west on Barstow towards Cedar but easily resolved.

I was at the game too. I have to admit, as hammered as I was myself, I found a lot of Fresno State fan behavior embarrassing. I never remember it being that bad, even at Bulldog Stadium. Personally, I struggle to get my friends to stay passed half time. They would stay longer, but there is a limit to how much liquor you can shove down your pants. I remember when we were students we would buy 2 or 3 beers and stay the duration of the game. Price kept us from buying 10 beers. Now they shove $5 pints of Kessler in their underwear that by halftime they're so hammered and unable to stand up. They convince themselves to stumble to UDL for more alcohol and I'm left alone watching the game. Bastards.

No way. They're not trouble makers or anything, they're great guys. They just like to drink, as do I. Difference is I find Fresno State football a bigger priority. It's not just my friends, it's hundreds of other 20-something-year-olds that i happen to know who don't go to games because of our alcohol policy. We have a few white lot tickets, but half the guys don't even go into the stadium.

Glad to hear the University is doing this. It's long overdue. Now lets hope they do something with the suggestions.

AA is for quiters!!!!!

Seriously though you guys are hitting on some good stuff, we need to build some traditions that don't change every couple of years.....Honestly I think right in front of the Lacross field should be our "Grove", let guys start coming in a setting up on Friday and sell space on a per game basis....with 10x10 on up....

Bathrooms are bad... wonder how they are at the womens softball diamond?    On a serious note... Make TAILGATING a priority again... They limited the space (lacrosse field and swimming complex) and run everyone off asap.  It has turned people away, no doubt...

Re: My Top 5

Bathrooms are awful and antiquated, but partially due to the pigs who inhabit them.

Paper is thrown everywhere but the trash cans and bottles and cans litter the stalls.

That's not on the university, that's on a certain segment of the fans.

#7-quit being TSA 2.0-treat the fans entering Bulldog Stadium with a little more dignity
#8-get someone who wants to work iin charge of exiting traffic after the games are over, walking around with a flashlight and talking to your buddies is not what is needed.
#9-Saturday games tailgating should be allowed to start at noon and clear-out should be at midnight
#10-hire bathroom attendants to ensure the pigs don't go hog wild
