We're going to score early and often. The only question is SMU's O. If the Dogs get to and hit Gilbert early this game will be out of control before halftime (4+ TD margin). If we let him get into a rhythm, then we still win but seal it in the 4th with all Robbie, all the time (10-14 point win).

This! Our defense needs to get after their QB from the first snap of the game. Get him skiddish so that he throws a lot and early. Phillip Thomas might be in for a monster game.

I see some tropical rust having gathered and timing issues until we unload offensively in the second half. In the first half Line gives us fits. Dogs 42, Stangs 30. We are down 14-21 at the half...Hope I'm wrong and we scorch them early and never let up making a statement going forward into 2013. Recruits better be watching and drooling...

Fire, no I understand SMU should have those same issues, but I was thinking it might affect us more so as our O is predicated on timing and this could take a few series to get that back so that we run like a fine tuned machine...Yes?

SMU is just too outmatched in this game... For them to win, we'd have to really shoot ourselves in the foot, and I mean people making mistakes that you've never seen from before.
Gilbert isn't going to be able to throw the ball, even though ideally we want him to. Line will get probably 60-80 yards rushing, but the defense is going to stop him first, and invite Gilbert to pass. The best thing SMU can do, is slow that clock down to a crawl, burn off as much time as possible, and pray that Line can run it. Their best defense against Carr and company on offense, is to keep their own offense on the field for as long as possible. Otherwise, SMU's DBs are sitting ducks. And if they get too careless, Rouse will be able to run it and catch it underneath.
Gonna get ugly.
I'd say a score somewhere like 52-21, and it wouldn't be that close.

Obviously...by all the outrageous predictions on here showed a complete lack of respect for SMU. You all jinxed our Dogs and you should be ashamed of it. I am way too superstitious to ever to make the bold predictions you made. LOL. Okay, but really, who would have predicted the "blow out" coming the opposite way? It is obvious by the Dogs performance they were there for pleasure and not business. This season ending loss is going to leave a bad taste in our mouths for the many off season months and that just plain sucks!
PS Merry Christmas everyone! Next year will be better...but please no more Xmas eve Hawaii Bowls! I am convinced WAC/MW teams (except Hawaii) are cursed!

Interesting stats from this post. Taking 20 predictions (left out the the absurd 96-2 prediction).....people felt the Dogs would win by an average of 50-17. 26 points off of the actual score for the Ponies and 40 points off of the actual score by the Dogs. One poster called it as the biggest blow out of the bowl season (49-3 Dogs) and he may still be right (33 point loss in the other direction). Some other team may lose by more than 33 in the remaining bowl games, but it won't take the sting from the worse bowl defeat in Fresno State history, the previous record was 23 points (last Bulldog bowl vs. NIU in the Boise Bowl, 40-17). The Dogs are not this bad, and SMU is not that good....this team was totally not prepared to play a football game..... to much reward for the kids stuff, to much Heisman Trophy BS, too much we should be ranked and to much we got shafted by the LV bowl. In the end Boise State won 11 games with one of their less talented teams in the last 12 years and the Dogs won 9 with one of their most talented teams in the last 10 years. Go figure!

Absurd? Now that stings. I'm a genuine grad-u-ate mathematician from FSU, and I analysed TONS of data, applying means, medians, standard deviations, deviate deviations, quartiles, semitiles, AND percentiles. After many hours of labor, those are the results my analysis produced. Absurd indeed!!
