I have to say that BSU coach Pete handles these situation very well at least the very little that I have briefly read and that is that when schools approach him and are rumored to be hiring him... I believe in the past he has released some kind of statement saying that he is staying we he is and that he is very happy.

The problem is CTD has done such statement and FS has a "policy" not to discuss personal matters.

Don't you think there should be an actual report that one of these schools actually has an offer on the table for him, or some visible evidence like photos taken of Butch Jones in the state of Colorado or Purdue, which are out there now, before DeRuyter should be obligated to release a statement? All we've seen so far are reports -mostly on Twitter- that DeRuyter is interested in one of these jobs, or that IF the candidate in question who seems to have an offer turns that school down, DeRuyter would want the job. Hey, I'm not naive enough to think he wouldn't accept a job later today, as this is college football and this is how college football operates.

But so far there's nothing out there to suggest DeRuyter has been searching for new homes in Boulder or the East Bay. Maybe he is in Bret Bielema mode and will have a present for everyone and jump out of a cake and say "Surprise, I'm out of here". But as I posted last week when the TD buzz began to circulate, I couldn't care less if he hasn't let me (the fan) or Robert Kuwada (the media) "I'm not going anywhere" because those are just words and nothing official until something is announced by the school that is official.
All I care about now is what his players and staff have been told and what he's telling recruits. Those are the only ones who deserve to be told what's going on, and you would hope that's already happening privately. But recruits and their loved ones, current players and assistant coaches should be wise enough to know nothing is for certain in this business. Ditto for fans. Anything less than that and gullibility will get the best of you.

There are a finite amount of coaches in the west who would leave for these jobs. DeRuyter's name will invariably be mentioned until the end. However, I think he'll listen to both schools if they want to talk to him.

I think you are mistaken. They have an entire board discussing coaching speculation. Peterson never releases such a statement which is why his name is always thrown around. If you've watched anything in the media over the past few weeks, CTD has clearly said he's not looking. Are you expecting a notarized affidavit?

As has been mentioned on here recently, he can use these speculations as a bargaining chip...both with administration and boosters. I hope we deal with these rumors year after year...it's a sign of success in a mid-major program.

Let me add this too: Since a lot of fans here do want to know what's going on with the head coach, let's all realize that unless they're clueless every recruit and his "advisors" -parents, prep coaches, big brothers etc.- are asking DeRuyter via text or e-mail or if he's meeting with them in person: "Are you committed to Fresno State?" He has to answer to them in one form or another (whether he's being honest is another story, but he's giving them an answer). But for the Bark Board, the Bee or 40/29 Sports, not the same huge priority.

You are dead wrong about Petersen in how he handles coach job inquiries. The Boise fans go through this angst every single year and this year is no exception. There is a reason coaches such as Petersen and DeRyuter go about this the way they do.

Maybe.... But he could also end up at UW where he's a grad from. Also UW could give him more money.....

If we're worried about two moves that would have to happen to even create a potential worrying moment, I'll worry about it when they happen.

I think we're overload on the coaching rumors. 

Mora has already been an NFL coach and he's better as a college coach. I'm not sure an NFL team would be rolling out the red carpet for him.

All of this coaching rumor stuff is nonsense! Tim DeRuyter has yet to fully prove himself here, yes 9-3 is great but with the talent we had plenty of coaches could have done that even Pat Hill. Give it a rest and remove the aluminum foil hat!

This is like a game of "six degrees of separation", where a ton of favorable circumstances and situations happen to produce a tenuous link from one person to another.  In this case, it's a tons of "what if this happens" to produce this, which results in something else to happen, and all the potential directions any single event could have taken takes the "perfect storm" kind of turn, producing some undersirable result.  If frogs could fly, they wouldn't bump their butts on lilly pads either.  But, alas, they don't, so I don't worry about it.  Same here.  Any coach in the country could keel over tonight, then come calling for CTD, but I'm not going to start worrying about the 100 some schools out there.

This isn't a rumor, it's a home-grown hypothetical "worry" based on several hypothetical possible events that may or may not happen, but all with a very specific outcome to produce the end result.

This would be nice to see...Carr passing off/passing to Mathews, and former #22 (Ajaratutu).  I like the Chargers, and they seem to never do as much as they could have...I sort of have Raiders type of feeling with them...
