Rumor....Butch Jones to Colorado...
Most fans on netbuffs.com think it's a done deal. Speculation on the Cal Board (bearinsider.com) is that Dykes is the leading candidate.

A Denver Sports writer is claiming on twitter that if Butch Jones turns down the job, Then school might/likley turn to CTD who has shown interest...since it's twitter may be just rumor without research or direct knowledge.

Re: Rumor....Butch Jones to Colorado...
Where did you see that he has shown interest. I recall him saying that he would sign a 25 year contract if Fresno offered it to him... I think this is just like how he wanted Derek to get evaluated by NFL scouts even though he is 100% committed to returning next year. It's always smart to know where you stand in your profession. Both DC2 and CTD are promoting a brand even though they have no intentions of leaving this year. kaigerugby wrote: A Denver Sports writer is claiming on twitter that if Butch Jones turns down the job, Then school might/likley turn to CTD who has shown interest...since it's twitter may be just rumor without research or direct knowledge.

I hope not, but with the changes in Wisconsin and Jones being a guy from that Midwest area, I wonder if he may go for that job....If they offer CTD 2.5 million per it has to be tempting

RE: Rumor....Butch Jones to Colorado...
2.5 million isn't a lot when you think of the fact that even he would likely not turn that program around quick enough. He would likely be back as an assistant much like Embree will be after not receiving enough time to turn that sinking ship around. That team has ZERO talent and is in the PAC-12!!!! That means a minimum of 4 years until they can be competitive. I doubt CTD wants to sign up for that. Side note- Out of the 20 5-4 star recruits in the state of Colorado last year, zero went to CU.... Think about that.... kaigerugby wrote: I hope not, but with the changes in Wisconsin and Jones being a guy from that Midwest area, I wonder if he may go for that job....If they offer CTD 2.5 million per it has to be tempting

Honestly iI wish he just leave... Shows no commitment whatsoever to building a team! If he is seriously considering or wanting this job than just leave. That my 2 cents worth!

Please validate some of your comments because this $hit is wack! Tell us where our coach is showing no commitment? He is building a team as we speak, recruiting for the future of this program. You need to take your 2 cents and put them back in your piggy bank.

What evidence do you have DeRyuter has no interest building a team? What evidence do you have DeRyuter is seriously considering "the job"? What evidence do you have DeRyuter is seriously considering leaving? 2-cents is way over priced for what amounts to be worthless drivel and it seems people who pay a penny for your thoughts are getting scammed.

I'd honestly rather CTD say nothing at all as opposed to outright telling a lie about his commitment, a la Butch Jones.

Probably the coach with the most experience when it comes to "job elsewhere" rumors is Chris Petersen. He never says anything about it. The main annoyance for "job elsewhere" rumors for coaches who are "stay here" coaches is how it effect recruiting. Other coaches use the rumor to undermine the "stay here" coach when it comes to prospective recruits. The rumored coach then has to go back to all his recruits and reassure every one of them one by one. This also means reassuring parents.

Re: Rumor....Butch Jones to Colorado...
The Col job is the "kiss of death" for young unproven HC's...
1.)They program is in complete shambles...
2.)They are looking for immediate results...
3.)Short term good $$$$$ for a coach....
4.)Gotta be smarter then that, because long term this will very likely take a young HC's stock from "Hero to Zero"....
If TD has any long term aspirations he will do his time for a couple more seasons here, prove he can make it happen with his own recruits and build a long term solid reputation he can fall back on!
If he were to leave now to a program like Col, he in my opinion is very short sited and in tne very near future will be having coffee with Dan Hawkins at a Starbucks near you.

He has had aspirations becoming an HC in terms of his coaching career. His number one goal if the opportunity presented itself it would be an HC job in California primarily because of family consideration. He did have other opportunities elsewhere outside California but gave those opportunities no serious pursuit. Fresno represented the ideal situation for CTD, both personally and professionally.
Now we all know life's goals change as we live it, however, I take it as CTD is happy right now at Fresno and there is a high probability for long-term. I think any change will have more to do with condition change such as conference viability or administration relationships than anything else. ....anything else meaning more money outside of California.

Re: Rumor....Butch Jones to Colorado...
Fang, I would not be suprised to see him take a job like CAL, or Wisky if offered....There are a lot of things CTD was expecting that haven't happened.....Training Table, team game night hotel, etc....
Gotta tell you, if it was just TD leaving....I would say it is what it is, as long as the staff pretty much stayed in place.
Problem is if he goes we will lose a few Asst Coaches as well......I think you could keep Schramm, and TMAC is pretty Rooted here.....But Toth is gone...

That is the one thing which has always worried me the most about the "I'm staying". Did the Administration tell CTD one thing and then not do what CTD was told would be the case? CTD being a Military Academy Grad is going to automatically take someone's word very seriously. I still don't see CTD leaving this year, but maybe it could be more a product of naive wishful thinking on my part.

It's not "done" done because he hasn't signed on the dotted line. But it's pretty much going to happen.

Re: Not a done deal!
Good. Good. I don't think CAL offers him. I don't think he leaves unless for a "BCS" job, and I don't think they offer DeRuyter after just one year of head coaching experience. If DeRuyter just wins the games we are favored in next year (which could possibly be all of them) then I think he'll get a shot at a high profile PAC-12/BIG-12 job, and then we'll have something to worry about. I fully expect DeRuyter to be our coach next year, and I hope that we keep Toth and I really hope we keep Schraam. Seems to me that DeRuyter kind of let him call all the shots for our offense and if he stays then I think it will be huge for our chances of running the table next year. I like Toth but DeRuyter has shown he can handle to defense, it's our offense that I think really depends on their coordinator.

ESPN is quoting 'sources' that confirm Dykes as the new Cal coach. And, I am hoping Jones accepted the Colorado job--since DeRuyter is likely high on their Plan B list.
