No basketball: This decompression time is the most difficult time of the year for him.
Draft Process: We will continue to give as much information as it comes in. … here is what everyone is saying.
Draft process: I’m a bit more comfortable with it. It’s here to stay now. He accepts it.
Coaches leaving: Will have meetings to discuss their future at the end of the year. Our guys love it here. These guys love Michigan and working here.
More on coaches: Looking for the right job to take.
Voices in their ear: No matter what there is voices in their ear. It’s part of the process.
Draft Status: You hope they’re looking at stuff from a much broader perspective.
Summer session: We definitely want them here for one summer session. Their choice if they come back for another.
Mitch: He did a individual workout with Beilein yesterday. It went well. Progressing the workouts slowly.
NCAA tournament: The season doesn’t make any difference. It’s all on who can make shots at the right time. Seed doesn’t matter. … It was neat for him to be in Dallas and look around this time around. He would like to get back a couple more times.
Team Respect: It’s very positive.
Turning point: They believed in themselves when they won on the road versus top-10 teams in conference play.
Upcoming schedule: Play in high level tournament. Play at Arizona. ACC-Big Ten challenge game here. Schedule was difficult last season. It will probably be more difficult this season.
European trip: they will do one in August. That way they can bring the freshman with them. … the player are excited about it.
Improvement: we have a laundry list of things we want to improve. .. I’m going to make a lot mistakes, more than people will notice.
Donnal: Mark is till 18-years old right now. Mark takes coaching right away. When in doubt, he shoots it right away. He may have an opportunity to play next year. People will like what he brings to the program.
We’re never going to be certain with commitments that we make with people.
I would be open to transfers. If we have openings, and they fit, then will be open to that.
There is going to be a lot of discussion in the next year about the (two year rule). It’s a working process. He doesn’t know the right model. It’s difficult on NCAA and NBA.
It’s not about dreaming to go to the NBA, it’s about being “ready” to go to the NBA.
Walton: I have so much confidence in his development.
Next step for Derrick: We can play through him more next season. Irvin will make major steps too.
