Tyrone Blake to NAU---Shame on the Rooster

Come on....Gorman would have had him at a pac 10 school with a scholorship.....Blakes family should have paid the Gorman Tuition.....Hope tyrone has a good palo education

Blake’s college future is at safety, where he had 80 tackles, five interceptions and one sack as a senior.

“That’s his position at the next level,” Panthers coach Darwin "Rooster"biggrin said. “If he bulked up a bit, he could end up playing some outside linebacker.

“I definitely believe he’s more of a defensive player than an offensive player.”

Blake also said the Lumberjacks envision him making an impact as a kick and punt returner.

Palo Verde went 10-2 overall and 7-1 in the Northwest League this season before losing 38-28 at Bishop Gorman in the Class 4A Sunset Region semifinals.

So now we're shaming coaches for getting kids D1 offers?????   What the hell is going on in this site?  It's getting pretty deep in here. flushed

I agree Yokel. NAU is rated very highly nationally in many fields. They have one of the premier physical therapy schools in the country. It's a beautiful campus with a great mix of old and new. Be glad the boy is getting a great scholarship. Frankly, I doubt that the coach had much to do with the offer anyway. From what I've seen, the schools come to see the kid play. If he meets the need of the university football team, he is offered. Has nothing to do with his high school coach.

Exactly kikernut & yokel, NAU & SUU are good programs. Had an opportunity to see SUU play, my son attends that school, and I was impressed with the wide open offense they had, Clay from Clark, is committed to SUU, I'm sure he's not going to regret that decision.

People think that if you don't get to go to Oklahoma then it's not worth going. Remember people, the goal is to continue to play football, get a great education and if you get a scholarship to pay for college then bravo for you. Nice job, Tyrone!

Tyronne is a good kid and will do well at NAU. The idea that if he played at Gorman he would have gone PAC-10 is nonsense.  Did Gorman teach Grimble to be 6'5" and run a 4.5? Coaches can help kids reach their potential but colleges will find talent and develop it themselves. If Rost or Sanchez had Pahrump's talent would they get more kids PAC-10 offers. You don't win the Kentucky derby on a mule.

I agree completely.  However, grimble does not run a 4.5.  hehe  Big as hell, but not that fast.

NAU is a great school.  I'm sure he will do well there.
