Jacobbi McDaniel

I wanna say thanks to Jacobbi for having a storybook ending to his collegiate career.  Who would've thought that the injuries he had his Jr season would actually turn out to be the biggest blessing in disguise.  I think im happiest for Jacobbi, because when he got here we were desperately trying to get this program back to an upright position.  He didnt just ride on the coattales of our young talent but was a very key contributor to what we accomplished this season.  Jacobbi had a great season, and was very disruptive to opposing offenses.  I wish you much success on the next level.  I just wish Chris would've been here too to enjoy it also.

It seems like he's been here forever. I'm happy for him too. Goodbye 2009 recruiting class.

I'd like to see him drop weight and take another shot at baseball.  I recall a video of him in batting practice as a freshman and he has a really sweet swing with lots of power.  I think he'd make a good DH and/or first baseman.  Not sure if football in the NFL is in his future because of the injuries; I'm pretty sure 11 would give him another tryout if he wants it.

I don't think he needs to lose that much.  As I recall he had to work to get his weight UP for football since he thought he needed to weigh closer to 300 and I think he mostly played at around 290.  Look at Big Pappy at Boston - he ain't exactly on a diet and McDaniels reminds me a lot of him.  I think he could play baseball at 250 if it's playing weight and not lard.  No one expects him to be running down flies in the outfield.  It's just a question of how much he wants it, and I suspect he could be a big bat at DH for us, which we badly need.

He had great quickness coming out of high school and lacked great strength.  Now he lacks quickness and still doesn't have great strength or explosion.   Hopefully he can keep his head up and continue to improve.

And Prince Fielder is 5'11", 280 lbs.

I just wouldn't expect someone that size to do much else than play 1B/DH.

He has a great personality and I think playing along side TJ and company pushed him this year. He might surprise some people at the next level, I could see him making the 2 deep on a roster if he keeps it up.

It's been a long road but a good one for Jacobbi.  Loved the photo of him in Cowboy boots in class.

Best of luck!!

I bet when he was on the 2009 team fighting maryland for a winning record he would of never thought he would win a national title lol.
