KU's new "Crimson Chrome" unis

So ... Yay?  Nay?  WTF?  WGAF?  Hopefully the chrome face masks will cause the sun to shine into the eyes of opponents, distracting them for just long enough ...

Helmet is awesome, but that jayhawk on the shoulder is way too big. looks like a 5 year old just put a sticker on something because its a sticker. it just doesnt belong.

Not too bad other than I don't care for the jayhawk on the shoulder. Too big and the colors obviously aren't right.

I like the shoulder logo....from a distance it will look good. The helmet logo is horrid though IMO way to big and cartoon looking almost looks like a fun house mirror reflection. Like the face mask of chrome that is sharp and cool.. Not a fan of red as your primary color but it's Ok.

Like the red helmet and the new hawk, but you're not KU without some significant blue

OK for Kansas.

Honestly, just glad those are not the uniforms of a team I root for regularly.

Actually, the team I root for regularly has some uniforms I am not crazy about either.

I dig the red chrome helmet with the Jayhawk logo. With that being said, I was distracted by the trash can over the players shoulder and right behind the helmet. If this was just a random tweet of the helmet, ok. But if this photo was released by the KU football marketing staff...yikes!

I'm not sure what I think about the all red but, hell, it's just an alternate uni ... I think.  Players seem to like them.  Here's a promo video for it.

I like them. As an alternative uniform they do what they should, stand out.

The only thing I would like to change is the Jayhawk logo for the football team. I love the 1941 "War Hawk" and think it would be better suited for the football team.

Umm seems like they are trying too hard with this one.  I like the red but not the logo on the helmet.  Would look better with a logo like the one on the shoulder pad IMO.

Honestly, in two words - gaudy - ugly.

I am not wild about some of my team's uniforms either.

This is friggin football not Project Runway!

Yeah, this was just a tweeted pic by one of the players.

Edit: Realized Crunch posted the video already.

Yuck. Are they actually going to wear those or was this some sort of elementary school competition?

You should never have more uniform options than wins. This goes for all teams.

In fact, you should have to "earn" alternative helmets and jerseys by winning specific games, depending on difficulty. Beat Iowa State, you get to wear the gloves with the bird on them. But take down OU, and you earn the shiny red helmet.

I have no complaint if the players like them---that is who the uniforms are for.

Personally, if they are going to put a huge Jayhawk head on the helmet I would rather they would have put the 1941 edition on there.

All crimson, or at least that shade of the color, is a little too bright.  We're a little more known for blue,

Though I appear to be in the minority, I prefer the older Mangino-era uniforms.

Re: KU's new "Crimson Chrome" unis

Speaking strictly about my taste...

Too much red and too much chrome.  I do like the large Jayhawk head on the helmet, I think it is a better look than either the "KU" text or the full Jayhawk.

This video makes me me even less excited...the Jayhawk is only on one side of the helmet, there are numbers on the other side.

Remember, though, that they're just alternate unis to be worn once or twice.  As Doc said, it's really for the players.  If they like them, then so be it.
