WVU Athletic Department may not be running a money deficit, but they ARE running an enormous facilities deficit. The football stadium is at a minimum $100 million from touching the top few B12 programs. Hoops has made strides, but gutting the Coli to some degree and modernizing the concourse won't be cheap (assuming they ever find the courage to do it). No baseball facility. Horrible swimming/diving. No golf courses (or team). No men's track and horrible track facilities.

Granted, MD's situation stinks but more due to the losing.  Ya can't build build build if ya don't hire top coaches.  I'd say their failure was due to the losing rather than the facilities upgrades.  And heck, now they just struck the lotto!  Frankly, I'm not sure if they won't be better off than us within 5 years if Luck can't find a way to finance at least $175 million in upgrades across "the face" of his department.

What do you expect from a school that basically resides in the DC beltway where spending is always king.   MD won't be any better with more money.  They are now and have been fiscally irresponsible for decades.

Under Armour just needs to step up and help out like Phil Knight/Nike did for Oregon.

I remember reading somewhere that the Coliseum will be used for at least another 25 years (I assume periodic upgrades during that span).  Not sure about Mountaineer Field.  Anyhow, I wish we had a T. Boone Pickens to build us two new facilities...

Also, does anyone know why we are building a baseball stadium in Granville instead of building a real baseball stadium on top of Hawley Field (it really is just a field).  Cost?  The location seems great, especially with the parking structures expected to be built in the area.

It is being built where it is because OL wants it used as a multi purpose facility...baseball, concerts and other events to max the money out of it.

There is nothing better than Tailgating and WVU Football.

Maryland will have to pay a LOT of money that they don't have to get our of the ACC. WVU got out just on time, and we had most of the money used.

It is simple, there is no room to build a real baseball stadium where Hawley Field is located.
