dutch oven cooking...Mountain Man breakfast

I've been messing around with dutch ovens for a few years now and really enjoy cooking outdoors.  As a matter of fact, the lil' lady of the house has me cooking today......Mountain Man breakfast.  The name is a little misleading because we actually have it for supper.  It would make a great breakfast, but one would have to get up before the chickens to have it ready to eat.

it's a very hardy meal I can assure you of that.  Instead of telling you how to make it, here is a video I found out on you tube of a guy cooking it.  Do know, there are various recipes.  Bacon and or sausage is a staple in this dish.  Most folks use bacon but I have used both, either one is great.  Try it if you like dutch oven cooking.

one thing I have added to this dish myself, is put some salsa on top when serving...........tongue

I make this on Boy Scout trips... don't do the layering he suggest but I mix it all up and let it cook that way. I'll have tortillas there...we warm them by placing them on the lid, which we turn over and place back on the coals to make a griddle. Salsa is a nice touch. easy breakfast and with the tortillas, no dishes to wash.

heck yes, I bet those young lads really put that stuff away..........hhmmmm........putting it inside some tortillas, I will have to try that.  Salsa would be great w/ the tortillas also, gives it that tomatoe flavoring
