Report - Pirates Minor League Team to Morgantown

Move could possibly be as early as 2014 per a report in Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Check 5:50PM update in this article:

PS - No bad jokes about the team moving from Pittsburgh.  It's coming from Jamestown, NY, if the report is true.

Re: Report - Pirates Minor League Team to Morgantown

The Pirates President said on 93.7 tonight that a lot of this hinges on how stadium improvements go at WVU for the Big-12 and us getting our baseball program facilities in line with Big-12 requirements. They mentioned for the time being WVU home games would be played in Charleston at Power Park, but that it's possible a team could be moving to Morgantown once we have a new fangled state-of-the-art facility in place.

A Pirate NY-Penn team to Morgantown makes sense with the new $100 million TIF tax district approved by Governor Tomblin and Bill Nutting on WVU board. New stadium should be named after Oliver Luck, who masterminded all of this.

After getting a 40,000-seat stadium built for SOCCER in Houston, the WVU stadium should be a piece of cake for Oliver Luck.

Oh man, I just love this.  Minor league baseball games are a great night out with the family.

excited Good college baseball AND a minor league team for the summer? This is worth all of the GVZ years of misery. My fingers are going to be crossed for the next two years.

I was under the impression that's what they meant by "minor league team", because eveyrone knows Pittsburgh doesn't have a MLB team! excited
