Re: model for baseball park...

looks nice ..........FSU might use it also.

West Virginia University Director of Athletics Oliver Luck has stated the University’s strong interest in a proposed development project to build a new baseball stadium at the University Town Centre in Morgantown. The Mountaineer baseball team could be a tenant in the new stadium along with a potential minor league team and Fairmont State University.

Events in the new ballpark could also include concerts, high school tournaments and American Legion games. Thanks to architect Kevin Turkall of Designstream LLC in Pittsburgh, the following renderings and photo gallery provide a conceptual look at what the baseball stadium might look like. All renderings are in the conceptual stage and are subject to change.

Good, because that's a great ballpark. Hope it's all-weather turf like Consol Energy Park, too.

Yes, it looks just like Consol Park, which is an excellent ballpark.  It will be on the small side for the Big 12 (where they have 5K+ seats), but I think it will still suit our needs perfectly.  I would also like to see the area in left field used as a pavilion, like consol has...

I saw a story about new coach and that the team will not play in Morgantown this season and they are going to be playing at minor league stadiums in WV, Bluefield, Charleston and Clarksburg(I think). I think this is a good idea but I think it might be good to schedule a few games at good HS fields in other areas in the state. The only drawback would probably be locker rooms, but this would get statewide exposure. I think a one game in Parkersburg, Wheeling/Moundsville and Martinsburg would be good exposure. I know Luck has ruled out Washington PA, although that would bring the NP into play into this plan, which is too bad, because if marketed the NP would go to Washington to support the Eers.

There is nothing better than Tailgating and WVU Football.

The team will play their conference games in Charleston, and all other home games at Hawley field.

RE: model for baseball park...

There won't be any updates until the spring, most likely. The county commission voted in favor of the project, after which they and the developers sent the proposal to the pertinent State department for review. The project needs State approval because it is dealing with taxation changes, which is under the control of the State. From there, it will be sent to a sub-committee of the legislature, then a committee, then it'll be voted on by the legislature for approval. The State Legislature reconvenes in February.

Any updates on final legislative approval and groundbreaking?

WVU and the Morgantown community needs this stadium from a sports and economic perspective.

Still no update. There's no doubt in my mind it will be approved by the state, but that will be in February when the legislature reconvenes. There was some discussion (actually tabled at this week's meeting) with the county commission and when the TIF period should start, but that's not a deal-breaking matter. It will be approved in February and ground will most likely be broken at the end of March or April.
