Question concerning Title 9 and the added baseball schollies:
Am I right in that female sports will gain additional schollies? If so, which sport?

I hope none. Title IX discriminates against men's non-revenue sports enough already.

I dont think so. I think the budget gap between them will hold off any problems that might have popped up.

Ya, but if we want men's track back, then we have to offset it with something. The only other thing I would watch is womens softball.

I heard that men's track and golf are getting added, as well as women's softball and golf. I believe most women's sports actually have more scholarships than the same men's sport, so that should make up the difference. mtnrecon wrote:

It's been long enough and Title IX needs to go. What was meant to even out the playing field has gone too far in the other direction.

Title IX is about equal oppertunity, so I don't believe the scholarships will matter. The biggest problem is there are no female sports that have as many players as football. Take football out of the equation and title IX would be perfect.

Take football out of the equation and title IX would be perfect. I would have to agree with that. I don't think the 85 scholarships for football should count against schools IAW Title IX. The reason being that football is only open males only, therefore should not count due to not taking scholarships away from females. They are being given EO in the sports that have female participation. |
