WVU Baseball team leads nation

In bunts and bunt attempts. You only get 27 outs per game and they give opposition 4 or 5 outs per game. GVZ plays every inning trying to score one run. No wonder they struggle to score runs. DH today hitting under .100.  There has to be somebody on that bench that can hit.

Perfect example of a manager/coach over-managing.    GVZ believed that the BBCOR bats will have a huge impact on the game and he's got his own players believing it.  I just watched a high school game in VA today where there were 2 absolute bombs (375-400 ft.)  from 2 HS sophomore players using BBCOR bats.  Last year some of the bat manufacturers struggled with the new BBCOR specs and how to adjust their bats.  This year the bats are more consistent and have a little more pop from early indications.  You can't try and over-manufacture runs as a manager.  There are times to bunt in a game but 4 or 5 per game is too much.  He needs to let his players relax and swing the bat.

WVU is not hitting the ball well and the pitching can't hold up without some support. They lost 5-2 today to Oklahoma when the pitching faltered in 8th inning giving up 3 runs. The game was well played until that point. Also have been mercy ruled twice this weekend 12-0 and 11-0.Illinois on tap tomorrow.

RE: WVU Baseball team leads nation

Just got back from our baseball tournament and as mentioned some of the players parents present mentioned how much WVU bunts in a game. About froze at the OSU game last night and our offensive froze too as we only had one hit. Starting pitching was really good and he really only gave up one run. Errors at left field and two passed balls did him in and the bull pen was very ineffective. The game against Oklahoma was a surprise as we actually scored and held it to a 2-2 tie till the 8th inning. A guy next to me said he had never had a full inning game go so quick and he had umpired for almost twenty years. Oregon game was quickly out of reach since we struggle to score. They subbed backups liberally and several players were seeing their first action. Since we got mercy ruled twice in 3 games and we play Illinois, who beat Oregon last night in Eugene. We chose to miss the Sunday game. I only saw about 8 fans at OSU game and about 11 at today's games. That is understandable as it is a far piece to the left coast. Two others we meet today were local transplants for the Hundred, WV area. All in all we need some changes as parents said past decent players are being benched in favor of freshman and players are being rotated to different positions and the batting order is constantly changing......not good. I hope we quickly get a decent home( PK Park at OU was beautiful) and a change in the coaching staff. I know the teams we lost to were top 25, but we were not even competitive in 2 of the 3 games.

As soon as I read the subject line, I knew it was bunts and bunt attempts.

Bunts are good for moving up base runners, but they're not very exciting to the average fan. We need more hits and runs scored!
