Re: Atleast The Women Won
that was also from the 18th I think we will be make the tournament but we could easily blow the last 3 games and end up 16-13. The women have been playing a little streaky this season and losing games they should have won. I'm just a bit apprehensive about making any predictions. They aren't even currently on the bubble... This league gets 6 if not 7 teams in
Right now, we are a ten seed according to ESPN bracketology.

RE: Atleast The Women Won
Let's face it WVU will not beat Baylor with Brittany Geiner out there but I expect a very good crowd that night (8k)
Both K State and Texas are reeling. Having a combined 7 conference wins.
But certainly they can't take them lightly at all.
But having potentially 6 conference wins in the toughest league in college basketball in addition to having a Top 10 schedule should put WVU women's basketball as a shoo in for the NCAA Tournament even as a 10 seed.
West Virginia University is a rifle school until further notice.

Re: Atleast The Women Won
In several of our women's games I've seen on tv, they play harder and smarter than our men's team. Perhaps they deserve the larger attendance numbers.....

Re: Atleast The Women Won
Does anyone know how accurate this guy is on his pods? Does the Women's tournament 'protect' seeds like the Men's tournament does?
Reason I ask is, this guy has some top seeds playing virtual road games in the 2nd round and in some cases the 1st. LaughingMan wrote: New girl's bracketology (Feb. 25) still has the ladies as a ten seed; he just bumped us to a different region...

RE: Atleast The Women Won
I think in the past, attendance plays a part in hosting. If you think you are going to have a decent year, you may want to bid on hosting.WVU has fallen victim to this several times.

Those all make sense. I was referring more to things like Iowa playing at home as a 10 seed, and St. Johns at home as a 12. LaughingMan wrote:

Re: Atleast The Women Won
Yes, the NCAA will place teams on their home floors even if they are lower seeds. It's an attendance/money issue. Unfortunate, but that's the way it is in the girl's tourney. (If memory serves, I believe WVU had to play at New Mexico just a few years ago when we were the higher seed...) MotownBomber wrote: Those all make sense. Re: Atleast The Women Won
That sounds right. I remember some grumbling about having to play in the Pit. But the attendance/money thing makes perfect sense. Well, if we end up as a 10 seed, I'm hoping we're in the Durham pod so I can go. LaughingMan wrote: Yes, the NCAA will place teams on their home floors even if they are lower seeds. Re: Atleast The Women Won
I think a couple of years ago we had to play in Austin and UT was like a 10 seed or something and we ended up playing them in the 2nd round and lost.
I can understand having the higher seeds hosting a regional but there's no reason that a 10 seed should be, but I do understand that these regionals have been set for at least a couple of years or so but it still doesn't seem fair.

The fact remains that if you are not Baylor, ND, UCONN, or Stanford....................... it doesn't matter. And hasn't for the better part of a decade.

since '95:
UCONN - 7 ships TENN - 5 ships Baylor - 2 ships, 1 FF appearance ND - 1 ship, 1 FF appearance Stanford - 3 FF appearances in the last 4 Whoa! Of course it is. You are saying that if you don't have a chance to win it all, why bother supporting your team. By your logic, the men's basketball teams at all schools except a few (Duke, Kansas, UConn, UNC, Kentucky, Florida- winners of the last NINE championships) just don't matter. Exact same logic as your take on women's basketball.
