We're not getting rid of 4 guys. Do you guys want us to be in the exact same situation we are now next year too?

Thought about exempting Noreen but his lack of willingness to take the open shot bothers me too much as he seems to have some touch on his shots. Too indecisive.
Has Huggins ever given him the green light to actually take shots? I know he's taken a few jumpers and a couple layups, but only 2-3 per game.
Yes Huggins has given him the green light.

If we are playing 2 guards under six feet next year we will be

in the same position.  You can do it if your 5 9 shooting guard can hit 3 to make up for him getting shot over 10 feet from the basket.  However you can't when none of our guards can hit a 3 pointer to save their livers.  If we don't lengthen the  guard position then you can expect more of the same next year.  Why Huggs recruited so many sub 6 foot guards is beyond me.  In fact it was pretty stupid.

You don't improve by getting rid of a ton of guys and bringing in a ton of freshmen. Doesn't work.

I would get rid of no more then 3

Browne
 Gerun or Staten
Brown

I would not play Staten and Hinds together for more then 5 minutes a game just to give some rest to somebody.

I would also fire Martin and Harrison

I would hire UMD assistant by offering him more money then MD.  I would then hire another AAU handler.  I would leave the X and O's to Huggins and then guy from Duquense.

Re: Roster Blow-up

You can't blow the roster up anymore.  He recruited these guys and that's on him.  Problem is I don't think the next class has any shooters either.
His coaching has been horrible.  The team today was not prepared even though OK St. didn't do anything different from last time.

Is/was there any help from the football team as when Jarrett came to help but I'm sure it's too late, now.

Re: Roster Blow-up

JUNIORS

Aaric Murray - Get your head in the game 100% of the time and just accept you are not quite as good as you thought - Come back with a good attitude and be the player you can be.

SOPHOMORES

Gary Browne - Sorry, your tremndous effort is lost in the numerous senseless things you do that hurt the team - either demonstrate a remote level of intellignece or move on after the season

Aaron Brown - Sorry but no defense and standing around on offense does not get it. I really thought this guy would turn out to be a very good player - I was way wrong... time to move on Aaron.

Juwan Staten - TBD, accept your role and prove that in the remaining games or move along. Probably requires a sit down with Huggs to tell you are wither 100% on board or you will never see the floor, your choice.

Jabarie Hinds - Drives me crazy at times but a solid player who needs guys around him to have a clue - Keeper.

Kevin Noreen - Effort and understanding are there - Keeper.

Keaton Miles - I honestly do not know. Looks as though he has developed a bit offensively and is a solid defender but have no idea why the lack of playing time. Are there other issues with Miles? No clue - leaning toward Keeper

Vlody Gerun - No idea - Keeper... I guess

FROSH

Both keepers... but get a clue on defense Terry.

I tend to be an optimistic fan but:

Staten has the physical tools of a point guard but seems to lack a feel for the game (at least in this offense).  Decision making is poor.

Miles was not even the star of his HS team (Nash of OK St).  Still, I think he can develop into a decent player.

Browne is a keeper - tough as nails - just not a true PG.

We need someone that can create without the ball and a PG with a feel for the game.

Re: Roster Blow-up

Huggins says guys two years in still don't know where they're supposed to be and what they're supposed to do when they hit the floor.  I don't know who all he's indicting with that comment, but he says he's tried the treadmill, he's tried sitting people....  We may like somebody's athleticism, somebody's grittiness, somebody's seeming potential...  but if he's leveling with the fans, and if they can't or won't bother to learn how to play the game, what exactly is the point of keeping them around?

Don't you have to jump to consider it a jumper? It takes him 5 seconds to take the shot; if he doesn't , he doesn't shoot.
Why should Noreen jump when his shot isn't being contested?  And when he has the time to get the shot off, why shouldn't he take the time?  Noreen has the highest fleld goal percentage on the team.  He also has the highest shooting percentage from three-point range.  The statistics prove that Noreen doesn't need your advice.

Mex, I agree with you for the most part.   IMHO....Staten needs to go.  He'll never be 100% on board.  Browne needs to just play smarter and Hinds needs to as well.  Noreen gives you 100% effort but he needs to take the shot when he has it. Huggs has done everything but hit his knees and beg him to shot.

Huggs may not get rid of four players, not intentionally anyway. But I could see up to four players departing. And if that happens we are in the same position.

I shouldn't have read that in the middle of taking a drink. I'm still laughing. One thing I can enjoy during a bad season, is watching the psycho's going berserk. It's an off year. Leave the coach and players alone. Huggs will get rid of any deadheads.

Brown [low major talent at best] and Miles [tweener that lacks the size and strength to play inside on the major college level/ lacks the ball skills and shooting ability to play outside] need to go!

Re: Roster Blow-up

Fellas, this isn't a video game.  We can't restart/blowup a roster.  It would be worse for us to do that than what is right now.  Plus keep in mind the fall signing period has already left.  That means we got the spring signing period with limited options and competing with every other school that is trying to pick up a guy this spring.

Right now, gotta hope we get 1-2 transfers (which i think will happen) and get John Severe to come here.  He is a bigger Guard that is considered a combo guard.  Now I would prefer a PG first guy but as i mentioned before, the options/quality is going to be tough.   Severe is a good shooter too.  Here is a video of him........... link

If he can play some PG for us, then it would be huge.  Or with having him along with Eron Harris and Terry Henderson, we should be able to figure out to get 2 of those guys out on the court at the same time.
