Re: Skylar Howard to Redshirt

Several posters have made the point in other threads that this would be the best thing for both Howard and the team. Better to give him the time he needs to learn how to actually operate the offense effectively, and retain three years of eligibility.  With three senior scholarship QBs heading into the season, why blow a season of eligibility?  Plus the QB rotation had to be narrowed down before getting into camp; you can't rep five QBs and still get your offense fine tuned  for the season.

This may also signal that DH was serious in earlier statements that the QBs have made progress--that they've all gotten better.  He must believe that between Trickett, Moore, and Millard the team will be able to compete.

It's still just June...it could be coach speak to Skylar "better get it quick or you're gonna redshirt this year." Dana's thoughts right now may be the he red shirt but you can bet that if anyone comes and tears it up in preseason camp...they will be starting game one.

I agree, enter this year with your 3 Sr QB's and let Howard and Crest have a year and a spring (or another in Howard's case) to get acclimated to being at WVU and get comfortable around their team mates. Let these two compete in the Spring and give them a fair chance.

I take away that Clint will be the starter then.  If Clint and Paul get dinged up, Howard will not redshirt unless the Fairmont connection pays off.

I predicted this way back....good move ....why waste this year with Howard....we have two senior Qbs who know the system.....next spring a new era begins with Crest and Howard competing...

Re: Skylar Howard to Redshirt

The QB's should prep and be ready to play this year. Redshirt decisions are said to be made later in year in most situations when the question is asked here on board. Of course you wouldn't put him in unless needed at which point you can redshirt him, but saying he's redshirting takes him out of serious prepping for season.

If Dana is just going to replay last year with a "healthy Trickett" then I withdraw my high hopes for this year. That is just sad and stupid. He had a good chance to be the best QB we could put on the field this year. I don't give a damn about Dana and his system and experience in it. I want the best performing QB playing to give us the best chance to win.

I love how people honestly thought this kid was going to come in and start. People act there are isn't a reason he was only offered by Stephen F. Austin as a walk on out of high school?

Trickett, then Crest hopefully takes over next season. Howard should transfer smaller.

We've seen him play. That trumps the unknowns of recruiting.

I'm calling BS here boys.

Trickett is coming off of shoulder surgery and Howard just tweeted 2 days ago that its good to be a QB at WVU when you get to play behind Spain and Glowinski......

For that reason alone, I'd be surprised if Holgorsen/Dawson have already made the decision to RS Howard

What if Logan Moore would have tweeted that? Or a walk on QB from BFE? Who cares?

he looked pretty good when I saw him play....one bad pass...70% completion....and 1 month of practice....but it seems more and more like Tricket is the guy.....just hope he stays healthy

Let's say TrickDaddy rolls out guns blazing against Bama, then what say the naysayers?

I tend to agree with this.

I just had a labrum repaired in Feburary and that is a serious surgery. I'm getting better but it's a slow recovery. But I'm 37, not 22.
