Chance is great but a little context is in order. These results are from the Gettysburg Duals. The combined '13-'14 record of the kids he wrestled is 7-32. Of their combined 32 losses, 31 have been by pin. Beast of the East it wasn't.

Good find Phifer. Chance is outstanding but the context for those pin stats (or any stats) is all-important.

Here's how:

The kid that is going to pin you studies you during the tournament.  He recognizes that you have a tendency to put your head down when you go in to tie up.

At the whistle, he steps in, looking like he's going to tie up.  Instead, you put your head down, he grabs your right arm deep, near the armpit, pulls you down further, putting an underhook in, over your head.  He then back trips you, straight to your back.  Two seconds later, it's all over.

Trust me, I saw it happen to my kid just last weekend.  banghead

Re: chance marstellar

Here is Nickal's weekend at 182 . Again , you need to keep everything in perspective, it's Texas. At least the records of the kids he pinned were over .500.

1st match vs. a kid that was 3-2 pin 1:27
2nd match vs. a kid that was 8-5 pin 1:01
3rd match vs. a kid that was 28-10 pin 1:25
4th match vs. a kid that was 21-5 pin 0:22

The only reason the first 3 matches lasted as long as they did is because Nickal was taking them down and letting them up for a bit of a workout, I guess.

I would like to see both guys working a little less on their egos and a little more on their gas tanks. As far as comparing Texas wrestling to PA wrestling, cmon man we all know the score there. This aint football.  Kennard Dale was probably fulfilling their obligation of wrestling their local section/region teams.

There you go. For those that thought Cael did something. A local kid just wanted to get away from here for a while

This is enlightening, and I'm happy to finally hear an explanation from Chance. I'm not sure why he didn't have the courtesy to just express this when he de-committed.

He's a great wrestler, I just hope he has the stomach for the limelight and pressure he will get at Okie State and competing at the International level. It doesn't sound like he does just now.

RE: chance marstellar

Interesting. I can understand the pressure he felt with recruiting and also the desire to get further away from home. The desire to go away led me to go to college out of state.
The article agrees somewhat with what I've read among OK St posters that Smith agreed that Chance could make the decision about which year to RS. But, assuming the posters are correct, it doesn't mention that Smith also agreed that Chance could go at 174. [Ok St is in excellent shape at 165 for the next few years with D. moving up so that was a no brainer for Smith to agree to.]

Given the fact that Nolf is still growing, its possible he competes at 165 for PSU in several years.
