Hope some day PSU will get these types of Games

Michigan to play West Virginia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan will play West Virginia on Dec. 15 as part of the inaugural Brooklyn Hoops Winter Hoops Festival at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., the university said Tuesday.

Everything Michigan, from recruiting to news to game coverage, is available at ESPN.com's

It will be the first meeting between the two programs, as well as the first time Michigan coach John Beilein, who left West Virginia in 2007, will face his former employer.

Bob Huggins replaced Beilein and has since led the Mountaineers to four straight NCAA tournament appearances, with the Mountaineers in contention for another tournament berth this season. "Playing in the new Barclays Center will truly be a great opportunity for us," Beilein said in the announcement. "Michigan has such a strong alumni base in New York City and surrounding areas that we could not turn down the chance to play in front of them."

"I have many fond memories of my time at West Virginia. Facing them and [Huggins] will give Michigan another opportunity to play against one of the very best teams in college basketball today," he added.

Was there something wrong with our game against Kentucky this year?    rolleyes

no not at all... but breaking in a new area in NYC area  would be cool change for the program.

yeah games like this would be perfect during thanksgiving or christmas break much better than playing a no name school in an empty BJC

play a big opponent in nyc would be a big draw for fans in the area like the NIT was and it might help recruiting as well

The statement that was phrased was:

"Hope some day PSU will get these types of games".

Well, we already do, but apparently nobody realizes it.

Basically, NCAA rules allow you one exempt tournament a year.  You either play in a preseason tournament, a Thanksgiving tournament, or a Christmas tournament.

Last year we played in a preseason tournament in CT against the #1 team in the country.  You shouldn't want to trade that for anything.

This year we are playing in a tournament in Puerto Rico with Providence, North Carolina State, Southern Mississippi, Akron, Oklahoma State, Xavier, and Tennessee. I sure wouldn't trade that for a game against West Virginia in Brooklyn.

Aside from losing by 38?  Nope.
        Three great PSU traditions:

        Ice Cream @ the Creamery.
Tailgating before a home football game.
B***hing and moaning about the officiating, whatever the sport.

I am with Uncle on this one. Its a good field and a nice inclusion for next season.
